Stoner / Doom Bassist Thread - Part 18

That 1st act Delgada is really making me gas. It looks B.A. I kinda want it for the irony of it. I'm a little worried that the taper on the neck might feel odd. Does anybody have any experience with a similar neck? I like the feel of Jazz necks and currently play a EBMM Big Al. Which also has me gassing for a Sterling even though I'm a passive, neck pickup, tone rolled off kinda guy.

One of the most comfortable necks I've ever played. I love it, but It's a bit beefier than most jazz necks. I prefer that, but not all would. They sound thunderous too. All around great bass. I want a new one built for me ASAP

I have to say that the couple of times I get to do just drum and bass with my band, having the BB and El Oso run together is absolutely earth shattering.

I would love to try a lot of ya'lls favorites into the El Oso. I bet it sounds killer with a lot of stuff. The BBM and El Oso didn't play nice for me. Whichever pedal was last, had the least effect. And at one point, it sounded like the distortion caused by both units cancelled each other out. Anyone ever hear of distortion cancellation before?

Interesting. I'm also not the biggest fan of hot pickups for guitar either. A lot of this will translate to bass, whether it is right or not ha ha.

Most of my current fuzz stable can handle just about anything I can throw at them

You should post the whole stable. Here and in the pedalboard thread in the effects forum. You got some kick ass pedals.

Whoa, how is this even possible?! http://loudwire.com/ex-queens-of-the-stone-age-bassist-nick-oliveri-dodges-jail-time-plea-deal/

Wonder if the prosecution screwed up somewhere. I can hardly believe this.

There was an interview not long ago where he explained it pretty well. The way it was covered in the media made it sound like Nick was holed up in his condo with a rifle holding a woman hostage while on crazy amounts of speed.

What actually happened seems to have been a bit more tame. Basically, he didn't open his door when the police asked (which is illegal, I guess). When they finally came in, he had an unregistered rifle (inherited, supposedly) under his bed.

And that's about it.

I saw an interview with Nick online last week. To hear him tell it, it was a bit overblown. Not sure if I believed him at the time, but this seems to make sense with his version of events.

Apparently he was inside with some friends, she came over, they wouldn't let her in, she went ballistic and called the cops saying there was a disturbance in the house. Yes, he kept them outside for 4 hours and yes, he had the gun that was given to him by his father. He said he had forgotten about the drugs, which were tiny amounts. It was actually kind of funny he said "I was in there for 4 hours before I let them in, don't you think I would have flushed anything that I had if I knew it was there?"

Not defending the guy or anything, and he does have a history of abusing women, but I think the situation was a little less crazy than the media had previously reported.

You could start with a list here. Maybe some reviews with bass. I know I'd find it useful. I don't know what all you have to even know what to ask you to try out.

Oh I know! Have you tried the RMC wah with bass yet? Maybe with a good fuzz?

I have tried the RMC with bass. It does not have anywhere near enough low end to work. Even with fuzz and the bass knob maxed on the wah. I'm not touching anything on my board until the GT200 comes in though.

If I can find my beta 52 I'd be down for doing some clips. Or get my hands on the PR40 :D

Here is my latest set up.

The mold spore is pretty cool. The ring mod is fun to screw around with. Wah wise it's ok. I was using the Bootzilla wah before and it comes close but isn't the same. I like them because they have a long sweep to them. I've tried other ones but could never get used to the short sweep. I usually use it for long swell type sweeps. Non of this funky wah rocking stuff I can't stand that stuff.
