Correct me if I'm wrong, but...
the "Skinhead" movement began in Jamaica and was propagated by Rudeboys.. or street gangs... that culture took up in England in the 60's with the whole Mods/Rockers/Skins scene, It had a lot to do with style, music, and social class... Given that most most skins are of working class backgrounds some tended to blame minorities for the general issues of their job market etc. providing a platform for a racist subculture. Since the scene was largely influenced by a Jamaican movement a lot of the music came too and any traditional skins have remained true to the classics (Prince Buster, Desmond Dekker etc.)... Perhaps the best example of the crossover would be the way Clash lived in both worlds of ska-punk long before Op Ivy. Then I guess as the hippies and mods died off the working class movement found natural opposition in the anarchist - non tax-paying punks... Which brings us to the ever present Punks vs. Skins thing....

Blender, I have 2 questions, one easy one not.
First isn't "This is England" about the National Front? It's what I got when I watched it.
Secondly, and no offense intended, what does it mean to you to be proud of being from the South? I've heard the phrase for years, never really thought to ask "Why?"
I'm from Ohio, but have not really ever thought of myself as a "proud" Ohioan. It's just where I grew up.

Yup. I've met several of those guys. they were all super cool to me personally but... yeah. Not really my thing.
Yup. They cause far more problems than they ever "solved". Back when I was still going to the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival (almost 10 years ago now) they were quite the issue.
Funny, I have always been a "proud Ohioan". Proud of the amount of presidents, and inventors we have grown. And Totally proud of the Funk (musical and other). But, You are from Cleveland. Just kidding!!!
All the pride in our end is categorized by area code: you're 412 hard if you're from Pittsburgh area, or 814 hard if you were born anywhere between Erie-Altoona-Johnstown. I only base this statement on the hundreds of 412 / 814 tattoos I've seen growing up.

And I'm proud of being southern because we have a great culture in some aspects. Our food is amazing. People genuinely caring about other people, a slower way of life, etc. It's a beautiful way if being, bigotry aside.
Wow missed a lot... I'm 512 proud from ATX, but I'll never get a tattoo to prove it, or piercings for that matter.
This is England is a great movie saw it years ago and have recommended it to tons of people. Never saw a skin head or any of these cliques you guys have up north. Austins hipsters and at night dirty creepy crust punk people wander around some too.
Kawai souther pride means a lot of things. To me southern pride is the great culture in the south we have, yes there are ignorant people, but that's not culture. I live in Texas, but my grandparents live in South Carolina, the two day drive is great so much stuff and scenery in between and all the little micro cultures from each little region.
A lot of southern pride especially to me is all in the cuisine, all those microcultures and areas have all kinds of influences from slaves and mexican farm labor to French and British influence shape a crazy delicious area to live. But yea it's easy to grow to large sizes, because biscuits and gravy are the best.
A glass of iced tea (unsweetened for me though), chicken fried steak and fried okra, if you're unhappy in any way you don't got that southern pride.

Also got this today for $70 delivered to my door. And the guy left telling me I should sell it for double or more because it's worth more lol. He had it cheap he says because of the intense road ware. So far all I can find is a pinky sized nick in the carpet that could be glued down in two seconds.

Anyone tried the new release Fender Blender fuzz? or EHX graphic fuzz? A Guy has had them both for $90 a piece. I'd try and talk him down on one if they were any good.

I know of a good number of skins in austin, personally. You're just not looking in the right places...
