Well, since I am waiting to order up my Lodestone, I went and checked out the band Grids (listed in the Clients section at Monolith's site) since the bass player uses the Lodestone. I don't know if the tracks were recorded with the pedal or not but man, are they heavy. The bass sounds so massive. Check them out Link Removed

Just picked up a Sunn Beta Bass for pretty cheap. I've loved the drive on all the solid state Sunn amps I've owned before, but they all blew up from abuse. I even thought about turning the preamp section of my old Concert Bass into a pedal or rack, but never followed through. The Beta sounds pretty killer, mean over the top distortion just like I was hoping for, sounds pretty neat with guitar as well actually. I may pick up a power amp to run it louder for gigs eventually, not sure. Right now I just bought it to record at home for fun. I was going to try it out at band practice tonight, to see if it can get at least to the volume I like for rehearsal without diming it out, but just found out we're canceled for this week :spit:

I have yet to try a SS sunn, on my list though. I do have a Traynor Monoblock II that I really like though and it's the best SS head I have ever used, which is not saying much because I have not played that many SS heads.

I haven't made my way through the whole thread, but I dig what's going on in here.

I lub that sludge ****.

I was wondering if you guys could give me a recommendation on a good fuzz that does well with a dirty amp. This is my current set up:

Acoustic 150. Not really gnarly compared to some of your guys' rigs, but I dig it.

Oh no.. now ya did it!
let the storm begin.
(in case you dont know it, you are about to embark on a long, enduring, expensive and fun journey to find "THE fuzz for you"...or like alot of us.. "THE 6-8 fuzzes for you")

so.. Ill start.
Winners of the Fuzzy Choice Awards so far:
Sanford and Sonny Bluebeard
Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian
Fender Sublime
OxFuzz Bass
Blackout Effectors Musket fuzz
EHX Bass Big Muff.. yeah.. I liked it for some stuff
Team Awesome Fuzz Machine.

but I would greatly recommend you do a search in the effects forum for fuzzes as well as youtube "bass fuzz" and let your ears and the experiences of others guide you. Check out Bassfuzz.com too.

OxFuzz Bass for mild tones and a Grey Stache clone for more aggressive fuzz right now. I also used to have a Wounded Paw Attack Goat and it was really good, I regret selling that one and may go back to it one day.
