stoner/doom bassist thread part 2: suspicious smoke

check here..fuzz comparisons
its a youtube demo I did a while back with a number of different fuzzes.. one is the bluebeard...
get one. its a keeper. Ive gone thru many many fuzzes, and the bluebeard has never left my board.

its my understanding the Stache is based off the Beard... hence the analogous names... (correct me if Im wrong) but they are very different animals for some reason, and I tend to think that while one can make a particular circuit or variant you wont necessarily get the same kinda sounds. I know Sonny tunes and plays each of his for a very particular feel, and I love it.. Not to knock what Ryan does at all I have had or do still have a number of his pedals and there are many a FIIIIIINE fuzzes out there that just arent the particular flavor I need in my cupboard.

ahh yes i have seen that. oxfuzz is still my favorite, and i love mine

but it will be interesting when i get the GS. I got it from Jimmy Rocket, he said he put it together back when he was helping Ryan with the Fuzzrocious stuff. he told me he just built a GS and put it in a different enclosure, it even has the oscillation switch. dealt with sonny before on a deal for a megalith, totally cool dude and he offered to build me a bluebeard. i may just take him up on that one day.

So need some advice from my sludge brethren as I don't have much of an artist design mind. I made a thread here a couple weeks ago when I picked this bad boy up...

Nice. I really like the color of it, and I kinda like that bolt thingy too. Tho I can see you wanna get rid of it since its abit worn down. If you wanna do a refin I would go with a similar color but with a flakey sparkle finish!! :D

Good shootout bro. Actually it was partially responsible for me deciding to chime out on the oxfuzz. So I guess I should thank you.

Bluebeard sounds great ofc, but I was also impressed with the musket. It did a good job copping the sub-lime.

And **** dude! The Bluebeard artwork looks great... Nice work man!

thanks man!! it was a bit of an honor to do, and once Kevin told me he wanted an Eddie, I couldnt resist doing Eddie with a Bluebeard. I think Im gonna be doing more custom paints for Sonny in the future.. Itll be fun.

You guys sound rad.

On the effects front, I can't decide between Attack Goat or Bluebeard or Sub-lime.

Agreed! ...And opening for YOB and Dark Castle. Sweet.

I would say; and I have no first hand experience with either pedal, go with the Attack goat if your more into the metal side of things, the Bluebeard if doom is your forte, and the Sub-lime if your more into the stoner rock or blues kind of thing.

Ofc all will do either well, but personally I feel there is where their strong suits lie.
I would definetly go with the Bluebard and have eyeballkid do a blue-bearded dwarven warrior or wizard or something! that would be awsome.

So since this thread has been going awhile, and I'm sure some of you have already done this, let's see everyone's rig! Basses, amps, cabs, the whole works. Post a shot of you with your band as well, and links to any stuff you have online! I'll make my post in a little.

Great Idea. Now I just need new rig.

These are some snippets of Suncrusher... The stage lights went out so it is dark. We play a bit of everything. Think of us as Black Sabbath, Motorhead, & Bad Brains all rolled into one female fronted package. This was from our gig last night in Lexington, KY...

I'm rocking a white USA Jazz, Fender Bassman 300 Pro, Genz 610T XB2, and a Fulltone OCD (as seen below)

I don't use the Emperor very often... The 810 is plenty loud & it's more my style. I like the blanketed tone of the 810 over the deep/rumbling clarity of the Emperor.

No pedalboard pic yet, but it has a Pitchblack, Garmopat Vox V8-30, EHX Mole, Loopmaster ABY, Boss VE20, and PreSonus TubePre (Boss and PreSonus for vocals).

The natural G&L is tuned to D standard/drop C & the Cherry is tuned to E standard/drop D.

This is an older/pre G&L gig photo.

Here's my main rig and main player! Due to my cabs being skinny when they're vertical I usually throw my amp under my guitar's amp on top of his cab.

'08 Vietnamese SVT into two Earcandy BassBomb 212s. These suckers handle 900W each and will make your brain explode.

Main player is an ATK700. I've been swapping basses a lot recently. My others are a VJ Rendano (Hondo) Explorer from the 80s and I just traded for a Canvas Les Paul copy with PJJs. Pedals are mainly OC-3, Bluebeard and Digitech chorus pedal.

Music can be found in my sig! I love my rig. I'm always finding basses I think would be awesome to have but I technically am 100% happy with what I have. It's a great feeling!
