Do you guys get crazy benefits like England and just about everywhere else?

Not quite what Europe gets, it's all through the company (American bank) I work for. Based on my seniority I get 30 days of vacation a year including sick days, plus additional health, dental, eye care, life and disability insurance and prescription meds. etc. we pay a fairly modest premium for all that plus we get additional health care from the government which we pay for through taxes. I can't remember the last time I had to pay more the $10 for medical care. We got it pretty good overall, no complaints from me.

The first thing i figured out how to do on bass was that two note intro to Boris STATEMENT
YouTube - ‪BORIS "Statement"‬‏

The first song I learned was Sweet Leaf....... I taught myself how to play LAst Days here this week, trying to master it... it sounds a little off.

I want to get a MIA Jazz bass, but I hardly ever see them used in Doom, the only dude I know who uses one in a doomy band is Jarred Warren, from Melvins, Karp, Big Business.

My question is why are jazz basses not used for doom?

EDIT: No doom scene in Canada? What about Bison BC, Woods of Ypres, and Sons of Otis?

Currently acquiring (or trying to) a bass rig of doom. it will consist of the following:

Rig:
Gk 700rbII
gk neo 412
Sunn Coliseum 300
215 of some sort (possibly a slave and another 215 if necessary)

Basses:
Schecter riot 4 (not the crappy deluxe, the good older ones) w/emg Hz's
Cort B4 w/ bart's

Pedals:
Tech 21 Sansamp Bass driver (into gk input)
Tech 21 XXL bass (idk what other people's opinions of this thing are, but when coupled with the sansamp.....it destroys....destroys i tell you)
BBE opto stomp (older model with the 15db switch)
Boss DD3
Chorus of some type (maybe the new tech 21, dunno need to look into it further)
Definitely others i don't feel like listing right now.

Hardly any musicians where i live (western pa) are into this type of music. And if they are? they are bassists as well......go figure.......

Haven't decided how to handle the signal splitting

Oh, and right now as far as the music goes Cult of Luna receives daily listening at the moment. Mostly from their 3 last albums. Fire was born is a great live dvd to check out if you want to see true masters of their craft performing. Oh, and if you watch their dvd check out how heavy handed their bassist is............he's a monster. the whole vid is up on youtube.

I can't say that I see a lot of Jazz Basses in the scene either. I own one and it is the best studio bass I have, but for live situations my P and Ric are my choice. Jazz basses have this inherent scooped kind of modern sound that makes it sound weak, at least with my hands and rig. The P and Ric have a lot more mids and are better at filling a room and punching through loud guitars and drums.

The scooped tone seems to work in the studio though and the right producer can really get an aggressive sound out of it.

exactly why i want a p bass or that olp with the humbucker.

*also, I maybe picking up the Sunn clone 2-15" that yamaha put out a while ago.

4-15's, now can I find band members?

Thought I'd check in here with my question since you guys are the volume experts. :p

How feasible would it be (if it's even possible) to use a Fender Bassman 350 as a head to power a cabinet? It only has an XLR output, not a 1/4"... I'm trying to put this together for a small doom project I've been working on, but I'm a bit lost on how I should set this up...

The new TV 350 combos have a 350 watt amp at 4 ohms. The speaker is 4 ohms. This combo is not intended to have an extension speaker. You could run the line out to a PA or something like that.

You shouldn't have to save too much. My rig (from pg 7) was $660 (not including bass).

Starting at a balance $0.00, I'll have to save quite a bit. There's a distinct possibility I may just get an acoustic head with a 115 and a 410... not sure how it would handle live settings though. I've heard acoustic heads are remarkably underpowered.

Yes, it stinks when you have no money and plenty of wants. (me at the moment too with trying to find a buyer for my bass so I can buy some more stuff)

I would do either a 2x10" and 1x15" or 2- 4x10's or 2- 1x15's (or 2- 8x10's or 2- 2x15's). And yes, the old Acoustic heads are way underated in terms of power.
