Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 6

Dumb question for you guys. Years back I picked up a boss tu2 for a tuner pedal. It has worked fine but I feel it isn't very accurate. I've got some selective OCD and it literally drives me crazy when I play an open string to tune and I see the tuner bouncing back and forth from slightly flat to slightly sharp. Do most pedal tuners have this slight margin of inaccuracy or is there a more accurate tuner I can get? Any suggestions?

Every tuner I have used does that. I find that if I tune w/ softer attack, it isn't as bad. That said, a friend of mine has a Peterson tuner pedal that he swears by. It's not cheep, and I can't tell what the hell I looking at when I use it. I feel like a moron asking him to help me tune. It sounds perfect when he is done. Added bonus, it also has a killer DI in it.

Have you tried tuning with the 12th fret harmonics? I do that all the time because open strings are more undefined with their gazillions of low frequencies (especially E and A strings).

So still doing some research on smaller cabs, some of you have said just a 2x10 wont cut it, and mentioned using something with 12" speakers. 2x12's seem a bit to big and heavy for what I want so how bout a 1x12? The Avatar SB112 is looking the best right now...

Tried to give the new Artist a good clean up and set up. It has the Gibson 3 piece bridge on it and it broke when I pulled it off. The wing on the one side fell off and the other side is cracked. Then the nut fell off. Going to grab a hipshot replacement and take it to a luthier to have a new nut cut for it. I fixed the electronics before I pulled off the strings and it sounded incredible. Can't wait to get it fixed up.
