Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 8 - Insert witty title...

I wouldn't say I use a "clean" tone for Cold Mourning, because I'm driving a lower wattage tube amp, but I don't use any dirt pedals. I try to work in fuzz here and there but it never really sits quite right, because the guitars are using such thick distortion. I do use fuzz on almost every song with another band I play with that's kind of a weird rootsy/bluesy/country infused punk rock type band (someone else probably knows exactly what genre it is, I have no clue). So whatever works with the particular band/song. The last heavy band I was in I had an OD pedal always on, but the guitar player used a less distorted tone. We spent a few practices just balancing out gain and tone to get the sound we wanted from the band as a whole. I think every band could benefit from that approach, usually it's just a free for all of everyone trying to use their favorite solo tone, which rarely works.

Ah you're play what I affectionately call "The Rape Room". It's about a third of the size of Pyramid Scheme. Not the greatest sounding room. I saw Beast in the Field & Mountain Goat there this winter. Used to be a more punk/metal crowd... What's the name of your band and who are you playing with? I'll make sure my girl Sara gives you the royal treatment!

So I picked up that fender 100t that was "used" on Ebay.....it showed up today....and HOLY ****!! a Hundred Watter that sounds supreme and really seems like itll be more than loud enough. AND its 45lbs...oh yeah!

When I was like 20 I developed some weird allergy to beer. It's not a gluten thing I think it is barley. That means for the last 6 years my body has basically been training for a whiskey drinking competition. I can drink 100 proof knob creek out of the bottle like it is water and it is kind of scary.

ha ha the rape room, thats great! thanks for the info Jason! We would definitely appreciate any good word you could put in for us.

The name of the band i play bass for is called "Arctic Sleep". we are playing with Ozenza and Onn. Sat, June 2nd at Mulligans in Grand Rapids.

www.ArcticSleep.com

I recently rediscovered the joys of drinking rye. I had switched to drinking primarily beer for the last few years out of laziness, but rye has always been a FAR "cleaner" drunk for me.

I'm back on the rye these days, and it's way better.

I'm a huge rye fan. Bulleit Rye is my favorite cheap accessible rye, but when I'm willing to shell out some money High West is where it's at.
