Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 8 - Insert witty title...

So Laz, and anyone else who might be interested, I just tried out the YBA-300. It is nothing like the 200. There is a lot more weight behind the notes and is very loud. Still has a bit if the Traynor high mids but not too much. The treble control was a little harsh for my tastes but that could have been the cabs (Traynor 410 and 115). I turned the treble almost all the way off and used the bright switch and it was much nicer. The features are great, it's not very heavy, the parametric mids is also nice. If I were in the market for an amp, I would definitely consider the YBA300. Not close to an SVT though and anyone who says it is is on crack. It has it's own thing going but the low end is too clear and polite compared to the SVT. Closer to the 400+ in my opinion.

If I can sell this rack rig I'll probably grab the Traynor Monoblock on the TB CL here as a backup head. Once all my rig stuff is settled down I may start looking into more pedals as my collection is pretty limited.

Keep in mind the Monoblck is big and heavy-ish. It is much bigger than it looks. Not really ideal as a backup to take to every gig.

Ampegfuzz: so if youre question is whats the dirty volume like all I can say is SHEEEEEEEE-IT FIRE!! today I put the amp on the overdrive channel with the gain at 10, channel volume at 5 (noon) and master at 5-6 and if I moved the bass knob anywhere past noon it would be more than most cabs could handle....and I still had half the channel and master volumes to go!!..this thing screams!....I seriously DONT wanna talk it up, cos fender pissed me off royally on a warranty and ive vowed they get no more of my money so I dont wanna convince any of you to buy a new one..i got mine used...please, do the same if you find yourself wanting.

I just love power amp distortion like lemmy, lou barlow, ETC. sounds like a killer amp. Bout time fender started making cool stuff again. Im just in the same boat as Fu22ba55 (what happened to him???) 100w isn't loud enough 300w is too much.

sounds like you need a YBA-3. there was also a one-off 150 watt version of the GT200 on ebay but looks like its gone.

she's here!
