Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 8 - Insert witty title...

Sweet Ric! I got a 93 4003 jetglo littered in stickers!
I love my Electric Amp, It's like 180-200 watts of screaming tube power. 4 kt 88's in it. When i throw a fuzz in front of it cranked it gets insane. Oh and I jammed with a dude today on guitar. I think it may be a good fit. His good attitude and not craziness is a relief. Might not be the best in the world but neither am I. The jam started kinda shaky but turned good fast. I'll put up some clips later

she's here!

oh,I save all the stickers for my old starter bass. There's more stickers than bass on that thing.Rickenbacker,Electric amps-going to take a guess that you quite like Mr.Cisneros?
Kt88's are where the business is at.Got 4 in my head,an old 70's P.A head.230 watts of win.

Sweet tracks pimp! What effects are you using there?

I put a couple new tracks on mine. The "Jam ReEdit" I took 1 and 2 note sections to create the guitar part. Has some pops and clicks since I'm not the best at editing yet and I think using the "flex" tool in Logic adds some funky stuff. Had to stretch a couple notes here and there to get them where I wanted. "Valkyrie" is a nice long stoner jam from practice.

I ran my Ric with the mojo hand colossus fuzz (set mild), old boss chorus, some airplane flanger at parts into a drum machine all into my little vox practice amp. Guitar was a Les Paul into a NYC big muff then a little fender practice amp. It was our first jam. Next time we are gonna jam at my place with the big amps and hopefully find a drummer to jam with. I'm prob gonna take vocal duties. I like the guitarist since he is simple and tasteful. Down with doing weird space noises and doesn't have an interest in becoming steve vai. I used my new zoom h2n to record the jam. This jam was more to see if we clicked than anything. I think with some serious amps it be pretty heavy :bassist:

Sounds like a great start man. Now finding a solid drummer is the hard part. I was really diggin how you used the effects, killer playing too!

I`m really digging your second jam! You`re pretty luck to have found a guitarist that is "simple and tasteful". Congrats on that! The guitarist I noodle around with is also my childhood friend. We`ve been in bands together before and while he is both creative and technical with his guitar and pile of effects he is also spends 40 minutes finding his "tone" every time we get together.:eyebrow: It can become tedious.

Anyway congrats on your future band mate and some gnarly jams!

So I played the 100t at practice today. I was a little off on my original summation. It seems it doesnt have as much totally clean headroom as I thought..I was playing at our live volume and had the channel volume at 6 and the master at 7 for my "clean". I didnt factor in how much harder I play live than at home so while really groovin I was getting some grit in it. But it was oh so yummy ooey gooey grit. It sounded just how ive always wanted to get a tube amp to sound....lots of ooomph, direct, drivin, with a touch of scorch that just feels electric. Kinda like how I hear everybody elses SVTs sound but I could never get without going deaf. I really like the way it goes into overdrive on the clean channel. my orange would go from "that sounds great" to "fartknocker" real easy..my ampeg would go from "oh yeah!" to "didnt I just kill a speaker?" real easy...this goes from "oh thats it" to "oh yeah, thats really it" to "oh...oh..right there...dont stop baby, dont stop" to "OMFG IM GONNA C...!!!". its such a smooth transition and keeps the same "tone" just drives it up more and more. Great rock tone in the mix..even the drummer noticed. I actually couldve turned it down a little today but we were a 3 peice and I liked the chance to be more forward and not a foundation only.
I really dialed in the OD channel today and found I was only using my dirt pedals to compare...the only thing I didnt like was that it gets REAL warm...hot actually. It has a fan in it aimed at the tubes that I dont know if it ever came on and the rear panel was hot! Like so hot that when I pulled out the footswitch cable the plug was hot and I couldnt touch the rear panel for long. I never noticed the fan on, and since its "new" I doubt its defective, but I wonder how hot its gotta be before it comes on. I played it at 4ohm with a 215 and it was plenty!
