Well I got a weird hair up my butt last night and swapped strings between 3 basses. Put the roto flats from the p bass on my jazz and holy cow. I thought that bass sounds good with the chromes but the rotos make it sing now. Going to re-set it up but it was slamming at cover band practice going thru a blackface fender bassman and a carvin loaded 115. I put some rounds on my 74 p bass and now it sounds damn close to my friends vintage Frankenstein. Ill have to compare the two again soon. I wish rotos didn't kill the output because they sounds so damn good. Its really my only complaint but I guess it's like that for all flats. But those two at least were sounding awesome last night. The funny thing is I did the swap trying to figure out what bass I wanted to take for my funk gigs this weekend. So after playing all my basses, swapping strings around, and putting the rig and board together I settled on the white Ric. LMMFAO!
Why not throw an MXR Micro Amp or something right after the bass to compensate for the lower ouput or just turn up the gain and/or volume on all your pedals and amp?
I'll be starting up my thread soon. My buddy is finally able to tear away from taxes next week (he does CPA stuff for commercial accounts), to bring over the tools!!!

I have a clean boost pedal I could try that with. Ill have to try that if I end up putting flats back on the p bass. The band I was thinking about joining a couple weeks back actually ended up breaking up before I had a chance to play a single note. Two of the guys just didn't want to play out/in that band anymore. I ended up contacting the other members that did still want to play and put a band together. So I have a new project that's coming together from the ground up and were meeting/jamming next Saturday. Depending on the tuning I'm going to try to use my P bass if its standard-ish or if it ends up being drop C ill use the brown ric I imagine. Kind of the reason I put rounds on the P bass. I also needed a bit more snap for slap stuff but ended up choosing the white ric for the gigs anyway. Excited for a fresh project. Also to note, I'm going to whore out my buddy who ended up picking drums back up. He is already doing good in the new gig as the drummer for the cover band. He will also be playing in this new project. And if he gets along super well with the cover band guitarist electric machete may have its new drummer.
Just in case anyone wonders what happened to me, I'm getting rushed to the ER for a fast spreading infection from my gallbladder surgery. Hit some low notes for me brothers, I might need them.

Man a 7 hour car ride North took me from roasting sticky 90 degree weather to typical chilly rainny PA weather. Reminds of Best in Show when the hotel manager asks Eugene Levy how was your trip from Florida. It was a nice ride till we hit Virginia then hit rain, then hit Pennsylvania and more rain lol
