Damn, we actually made a little cash for band rent last night! Everyone was well receptive. New guitar player worked out well. Tons of compliments. Wish we had a camera... oh well. Great show, even with only half my rig. Didn't want to take two cars just to have a couple more speakers...60 miles, blech.

Venue was small and like a hallway, where we played. Perfect for the Yamaha to boom the **** out of everything. Nailed our Working Man cover. Cloud 9 feels good. Now, to get a job... or an unemployment check.

good luck with the job hunt man, i think my boss is about to fire my drummer, gonna really **** up or recording sessions..glad to hear about the show.

Saturdays are totally the worst day on the thread, I'm glad I'm done at 1!

On the subject of licenses & Id's I got a new License this week, first time I have had a new picture in 8 years... I was elated that my beard extended beyond the bottom of the picture... and I'm mildly stoked that I no longer have dreads on my ID.

Congrats on the successful show, Joe!

I'm sitting around trying to decide what to do this weekend. Camping plans cancelled due to weather for the 4th week in a row, this **** is starting to piss me off.

Anyway, I'm digging the half round strings, tension is really high but I'm hoping they loosen up a bit after some time. They totally killed the over clean, treble-happy tone of the humbucker in my ibanez. It needs a fret job that i'm reluctant to pay for (will probably cost more than the bass did), but the flatness of the strings has reduced the buzz and clank to an acceptable level.

I'm digging the digidelay pedal, but need more time with it to really figure out some of the settings. I'm not used you having 4 seconds of delay, but I'm sure I'll find a use for all of that time. The trails was a pleasant surprise. At first i thought it was ****ed up because i turned it off and the repeats kept going, but then i realized what was going on and was pretty stoked. Modulated delay sounded pretty sweet, reverse was awesome but i don't know what to do with it. Pretty sweet little under the radar pedal.

Had to add my $.02, of course from the annoying perspective.

Do any of you guys have a good simple definition/explanation of syncopation. Was talking to a friend and had a hard time explaining well if I was even correctly describing it.

My lack of theory knowledge is glaringly apparent when i try to put this into words...

Still Valley crushed, even better than the last time I saw them! They did not disappoint on the riffage, and I was really impressed with their patience during the drone stuff- it's hard to do, especially doing it well, and they succeeded! In the Company of Serpents was a perfect pairing. Did I see Nick buy one of their flasks?

From the last thread... I use the M9 and I really like it. I have only used it with bass (I don't own an electric guitar), and only used it in front of the amp.

It's very intuitive. I think it's perfect for delays, reverb, and modulation effects. The filters are cool too, I just don't really use them. I would not recommend the distortions, unless you are going for a very specific, unique, non traditional sound. There are some useable settings in the distortions though- noise gate, mid focus eq, graphic eq's, volume pedal, etc.

I have one expression pedal, and it really opens up the possibilities. I put my M9 in the loop of a true bypass pedal so that I can set a full scene and access it when I'm ready with one button. This eliminates a lot of pedal dancing.

I had the M13, but I traded it for the M9 (and some $). It was slightly easier to use, and offered more options (more scenes, more pedals per scene, effects send, effects return, one screen per effects unit, etc). Ultimately,iIt was heavy, took up a too much real-estate on my board, and was just more than I needed. I'm happy with that trade.

I do have one frustration with the M9- the setup, tuner, and scenes are accessed by hitting two switches at once, which can be a pain. If I want to use the two effects, I have to place them carefully, otherwise I will mute my signal and turn on my tuner mid song. I have to be careful about how to lay out my pedals. This was not a problem on the M13.

I've managed to wear a plain black tee in every license pic. Weird seeing myself get old not to mention the occasional skinny years.

Congrats joe! Always nice to get paid AND play a cool show.

We got offered a gig that will probably be the first one we ever turned down. It's at an old department store turned into two bars in the middle of downtown. It's in one of the bar's upstairs area, up a super narrow, very vertical triple flight of stairs, with no PA at 3am. We would be playing a two hr set. For free.

I always thought the bass on the Police song Roxanne was a cool example of syncopation. During the verse, it hits on the & of 1 and 2. Even more impressive is singing while doing this.

Even cooler is the Television song Marquee Moon!!!
