Stoner/Doom Bassists #65: Wasted Under the Brim

Lots of bearded sissy men in here :P How many of you guys have been sky diving?

I would like to go Sky Diving but even more would love to hang glide or get one of those paragliders. It's funny, heights get to me, and I don't think I could ever bunjee jump. But I have rapelled and zip-lined quite a bit and that doesn't bother me much and flying I jsut kidn of give myself over to it and don't sweat and I love the flying down the runaway at take off, just knowing your are moving so fast is a trip.

For some reason flying doesn't bother me but heights freak me the hell out. I HATE high bridges. I get genuinely pissed off, cursing the fool who built the damn thing so high.

+1, my dad used to fly little 2 and 4 seater cessnas and has a pilot license. It was like riding in a car. Big planes no problem. Now, tell me to look over the ledge of a building 20 foot tall or higher and I am petrified. There's nothing to stop me from doing something stupid and flying right off the edge.

I haven't been skydiving yet but have friends and family into it. I'd totally do it if given the opprotunity but I see no point in doing it unless it's a group or something. I'd scream like a girl for sure though.

I used to have a problem with heights. Not flying and stuff, but being on top of tall scaffolding and that sort of thing. Then I got a job installing flag poles, that required being in a bucket on top of a boom truck and working on top of 50 ft ladders. I got over it. My need to keep food on the table and the lights on trumped my nervousness and now I don't have care about heights anymore. By the time I left that job I was fine with dangling upside down by a harness to drill holes in the side of concrete building wall for attaching mounting cleats.

I'd recommend sky diving to anyone who has the stomach for it. One of the best experiences of my life. Definitely going to go again this summer.

I did some zip lining from like 800 feet off the ground. Not as big of an adrenaline rush, but definitely cool.

800 feet is badass, we had some cool spots in PA to do it but never got much more than 100 feet or so, as we had to set it all up and that, one time we tied to a tree that looked great but erosion must of loosened its foot hold and and it fell over while a guy was on zip, we just all ran over and held on and the guy finished his ride. Also I had a pretty good scare rapelling, I bought some Military rope because that is what we used in the National Guard so I thought heck that stuff takes a beating, well I didn't realized how much stretch is in when brand new, so I was the first to rapell that day with the new rope, so I am leaning back to the 45 degree position, and letting my weight on it and whoosh the rope stretched and I am falling backwards off the edge, it happened so fast, the next thing I knew I was totally upside down flat against the side of the cliff, and looking up the top I see my cousin and two buddies looking over the edge thinking this day is ending badly. I am grinning ear to ear since I am ok, but had to keep wiggling my legs from left to right to finally switch around as the rope had me so tight against the wall, then I got myself totally the straight up and down against the wall, and then I was able to finish the rapell or I should say slowly walk myself down at the bottom I kept bouncing to get the stretch out and we were fine after that. Good times.

I got two jobs in a matter of 3 hours. Receiving and Clerical work.

Go me! Go me! ;) I feel like a rock star now!

Great Job! (awesome show)

i just spoke with my headhunter about my upcoming interview and was told i may have to take some kind of skill assessment and general psych evaluation test at this place.

now im not so optimistic about getting the offer since i know full well that im bat-**** crazy and a total slacker when it comes down to crunch time.

Yep, both Springhill(parent's hometown) and Stellarton(my hometown) have had huge mining disasters. I can't imagine anything more DOOM than being trapped in a mine.

how about trapped in a mine with Wino? Instant more doom.

Or Dixie Dave after too many days in the van, apparently lol. Wino's cowboy boot tips cutting in to you and all that jazz lol. Man I would also call a damaged sub on the bottom of the ocean a pretty Doom way to go too.

Wearing Lemmy's shorts...

The new Carvin guitar was waiting for me when I got back to the office from an appointment. The neck feels goooooood. Can't wait to tuner her up and try her out later this afternoon.

Sick.
