Stoner/DOOM Bassists Part 83: WHAT YEAR IS IT?

Conan the Barbarian, Terminator, Commando, Predator, The Running Man, Total Recall, T2 are pretty much the essential Arnold.

Also, is everyone aware of the band Austrian Death Machine? Guy from As I Lay Dying tribute band to Arnold.

Me and my old guitarist used to joke about starting an epic metal band where the lyrics would just be us singing the plot to Arnold movies then these guys first album came out.
You are definitely leaving out kindergarten cop. ESSENTIAL

Happy New year guys. I had a big day yesterday. Bass sold so I bought two more pieces of my rig. I picked up a prestine, recently reconed Sunn 215BH with the Sunn magna drivers and I have a equally pristine(based on photos and past owner description) Peavey Super Festival VTA 400 on the way. Then, I spent the night jamming with the band. Put the finishing touches on our first complete song. I'm riding a high today. It was just as heavy as I hoped this project would be. No sound clips yet but, one day. Exciting sh*t.

I think it might be time to change the Aguilar from silver to black. Just a thought.

Oh yeah, and MC, I love the look of your rig. I'm sure that thing crushes. Talk about a wall of fuzz.

That sunn cab is a Beast!

I think it would work but you could get killer speakers for less than the cost of just one.

True but those killer speakers would be toast running your bass rig through them.

Askrere I do this allot.
My 12/6/1 is pretty killer with my Kenwood. Much better/louder/lower then my Boston Acoustics.
Maybe one day I'll build a second and go for stereo. Got other stuff to do before that though.

I am not even going to post in that 810+215 thread. Sh!t pisses me off. All those guys miss the point that playing loud isnt a crime. I have ear plugs on me all the time. They are in my pocket right now. When it gets loud they go in.

That said I am always searching for a way to be louder, and my rig is already stupid fuucking loud. You can have your cake and eat it too. You can have cabs that are light, not huge, and will go loud. You might have to open your check book.

Either way, if I cant make someone feel physically ill when they stand in front of my rig, *I* am doing something wrong.

Also: I am still hung over. I think I was drunk until yesterday at about 8:30pm. Work is already sucking today.

Something else that these people don't seem to understand is just because there are huge cabs and high SPLs is that sometimes it doesn't actually seem that loud. I have been to some doom shows where the bass player has a couple 2x15s and the guitarist has a full stack, but I didn't wear ear plugs because both were tuned and EQed really low. I probably should have worn ear plugs but the sound didn't hurt because it was more just vibrating my body.

I thought about that. How do the Fearfuls sound playing full range music with relatively low power?

Fine, good even. The Kenwood I was referring to is like 100w a side at 4 ohms. So i'm sure its <75w at 8 ohms.
Again i'm comparing my 12/6/1 to a pair of 5" cheaper Boston Acoustic bookshelf speakers. So when I say they are better/louder/lower it really is no contest. Then you account for the fact the BAs were made in the early 90s so there is almost two decades more mature technology in the fearful's speakers.
Its all very subjective. The wife and I are going through an elimination phase right now getting rid of stuff we don't want or need so lots of things are being considered for dual purpose.

I love my vintage JBL and Polks but not when moving between apartments and to my house lol.
