Stoner/DOOM Bassists Part 83: WHAT YEAR IS IT?

I wouldn't shell out much extra for 3D, if any. You're going to have a severe lack of content that will take advantage of it. The industry has already moved past in home 3D. 4K is the next big fad.

Read that a 3D tv produces a better 2D picture than a standard 2D tv and it's got good reviews. Also it's passive 3D so it's not bulky glasses if I did take advantage.

What's 4k, hopefully not the price.

Further research says they are like $$$$$ Jeebus

It's really not as expensive as it could be. It's mostly being used in filmmaking and broadcast situations now, but Sony released the first consumer 4K tvs earlier this year. We have a demo unit at work, it's insane: to me it looks sharper than real life and i have 20/20 vision.

Right now it's being held
back by the lack of adequate memory. Professional 4K cameras need to have a memory source for each 1080 quadrant, so one camera will record simultaneously to 4 different compact flash cards (or solid state drives). Even the largest capacity media available won't get you more than 30-40 minutes of footage. So once memory options catch up, we'll probably see a lot more 4K content.

But I got like 1k +/- for a tv And don't have one, what would you recommend?

My main TV recently died and we replaced it with this 60" Samsung. Pretty great deal for $1200.

I don't see any reason to buy a 4k TV yet. Hell, cable doesn't even broadcast in 1080p yet. There aren't going to many things that can take advantage of the 4k for a long time.

How I brought in the new year...

16x12s
2x18s
1x15

When I turned the wall on it was almost jucifer loud. It was a full body message, vision blurring. So immensely heavy. The chunk was nuts. A few friends were outside and they told me you could hear it clear as day 100ft outside the warehouse. Only played it for like 10mins fearing someone would call the fuzz.

Bought some contact cleaner and that pretty much fixed the footswitch issues I've been having with my WUMBO and Rat. Rat>muff is so heavy.

Just Awesome!!! Didn't hear any shotguns like back home, just some firecrackers by neighbors to ring int he new year last night.

Happy New year guys. I had a big day yesterday. Bass sold so I bought two more pieces of my rig. I picked up a prestine, recently reconed Sunn 215BH with the Sunn magna drivers and I have a equally pristine(based on photos and past owner description) Peavey Super Festival VTA 400 on the way. Then, I spent the night jamming with the band. Put the finishing touches on our first complete song. I'm riding a high today. It was just as heavy as I hoped this project would be. No sound clips yet but, one day. Exciting sh*t.

I think it might be time to change the Aguilar from silver to black. Just a thought.

Oh yeah, and MC, I love the look of your rig. I'm sure that thing crushes. Talk about a wall of fuzz.

Shiner FTW!
Miss that stuff since I moved up here.

Timm, be care with the magna drivers, I had a pair in one of my old sunn 215s and they only lasted about a 2 months of DOOM before blowing. They sound awesome though, real good grind to them.
That's too bad. I'd be pissed. Hopefully since I'm only pushing 225w and then 200w through them they last a little while longer. But that is how this goes.

My favorite thing to ever come out of Texas. That's a good eye considering the grainyness of the photos.

On another note. What's the best way to record a very loud practice? Our practice space is pretty small, probably 12x10 (wild guess there). I've tried using my galaxy s3 but it just doesn't cut it. Honestly it sounds like total ****. My drummer has a zoom h2n but while it sounds a little better still not that great and doesn't pick up his kick drum. I don't know how much he's messed with the gain on the Mic though, and I haven't fuct with it yet. There's not much room for a "optimal" placement.
I need something to listen to between practice days.

First day of recreational pot sales in Colorado.
