Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 11 - "Bath Time"

Hey guys I was working on a tune for my band, It doesnt have guitars on the recording. But I thought I'd put it up for some comments. I used my Ric with Chromes through the bluebeard and a flanger at times. used my svt 4 pro with a 4x10hlf since I blew a tube on the EA. I recorded this after a few vicodin and an ambien so it sounds great to me but I need some good opinions I trust. Thanks dudes Just hit my soundcloud link in the ol signature. It's the very first tune. Please give me some feedback cause I've been really working on my sound a lot lately. I think with some mid heavy guitars fuzzed out it should be a good mix

Dixie had a diesel 215 and sunn 215, still quiet and i stood right in front of it. I think the concert might be that exception on "right cab". Now a Kustom K250-1 with a folded 18, Rip your face off!

EDIT: whoops, i thought a K250 was rated at 150w but the 250 in K250 actually stands for 250W. The k250-1 is one of my favorite SS heads.

Also are we talking about the same head dixie dave uses?

Listened to the track cosmicpimp2 and the only thing I have to say is maybe just work on the first switch from clean, flanger to fuzz, no flanger. Make it quicker, or even just leave it on the whole time. Otherwise its great! Should sound pretty dope with guitar...that's the dope talkin. :ninja:

Infectious Grooves was one of those pivotal "I want to play whatever that guy is playing" bands that got me started up on bass. Can't hate on Trujillo for joining Metallica, he still gets to play the first 3 albums on tours, and for his experience he deserves a comfy gig. Better than being Celine Dion's new touring bassist (an equally comfy gig I'd imagine)

Not hating on Trujillo at all. He's simply kept under the thumb of Hetfield/Ulrich.

It's as if the death of Cliff allowed them to get "sidemen" to be in the band. Those sidemen were/are instructed how and what to play.

Also, I think being Celine Dion's bass player would be much less of a workout than Trujillo's getting.

Just sit back, play the nice slow tunes, and count the money. Show's over by 10, probably a nice buffet, and plenty of time to catch SportsCenter.

I suffered through their 'Some Kind of Monster' documentary, which turned out to be James and Lars whining into the camera for 2 hours while Kirk just had a puzzled look on his face like "why can't we all just get along?"

Metallica likes to change up their sound though, and like to write what "they" want to write, and considering their best material was written under a haze of Jagermeister in the late 80's and now they spend their off-time with their families and mansions, they're in a different place. They still make the music they want to make, just nobody wants to listen to it.

I've heard them compared as the opposite of Slayer, who continue to make pretty much the same thrash jams they did in the beginning (other than the weird hair metal phase.) I continue to like new Slayer material, Metallica not so much.

wow. all that waiting and some assembly is still required.

well to be honest, the way i looked at this whole fiasco was wade undercharged me big time. 1450 for two fully loaded 612 cabs shipped is/was too good to be true. emperor would have cost about 1000 more than that, so by the time i get the speakers in and the tolex on, ill probably end up spending what i should have been charged in the first place.
