That somehow makes me not hate Monday's just a tad less.

And this is seriously nuts, I take a break from TB for the weekend and we're 6 pages in already.

I went back home and built a pair of fEARful 12/6's with my dad over the weekend. Got all the woodworking done, glued and brad nailed in, rock solid. Unfortunately the picture is trapped in my bootleg iPhone with no data plan

Can't wait to see what my gear actually sounds like without being strangled by those 4x10's. I think I wasted alot of money in the last few years and my cabs were always the common variable of where I didn't like my sound. Got the 3Pro and a new (to me) Carvin B800 to run em through their paces. I went 12/6 for the size and weight benefit, they're supposed to match volume with a 4x10 so 2 of them will be enough for me, in a nice clean little package. Now you may be reading this thinking "this isnt very doomy news".... but, I also plan to cover them in THIS:

I played the avatar's version of a fearful a couple weeks ago and I did not like it. Granted it was not my rig or bass but it had some pretty uncontrollable low end. But to each his own. It put me off enough to kill any gas I had for one.

Too boomy or just overwhelmed the other driver/horn?

Boomy and it was not just me that felt that way. You have to account that the avatar is "slightly" different. But the guy whole owned it, a bass player I know and respect, and myself all felt the same way. uncontrollable low end to where you have to run it so quiet you barely hear yourself. But like I said don't take my word for it before trying it yourself. A avatar just popped into my local MGR, I'll give it another go.

Man, if I was local, I'd definitely be picking up one or two of those cabinets.

Maybe with our bass-shy sealed 8x10's we're not used to unrestrained low end. It could be an EQ problem.

Never played an actual fEARful cab and don't really have any interest in doing so. Hifi is not the sound I'm looking for.

I will only say this regarding those mixed driver type of cabs, my BFD Omni 15" did not work for me. Even with the 9 band graphic EQ, i could not tame the distortion on the mid range and at one point I thought I blew the mid. YMMV, IME.

The bass was a SX loaded with lollars, a genz 12.2 and he had a markbass comp. if I get time I'll lug my genz 9.0 and a bass up to MGR Later today. Give a full go.

Is the GB 12.2 a really bassy head? I thought they were supposed to be pretty flat across the spectrum.
