As I about to drunkenly pass out last night Mrs. Fuzz bursts into the bedroom, also drunk.

Wife: Your not going to believe this. There are fires in "the springs" where my friend is and they might have to evacuate.

Me: Yeah, I know.

Wife: What the hell do you mean "You know"???

Me: About the fires.

Wife: Well how the hell do you know about the fires??

Me: Nerd-forum.

Wife: Your stupid bass website????

Me: Yup

Then wife makes a grunt noise and storms out of the bedroom.

He's only selling what he still has in stock, which isn't much and he doesn't have a GT200. That's the first place I looked into.

Ah man I'm really bummed. Thought I'd have some tracks from last night with solid vocals so you guys could hear how killer our singer is, but you can't hear squat on the tracks. Kind of strange since I could hear him really well while we were playing. Our practice room hates vocals apparently.

Oh well. The instrumentation sounds great on all the tracks at least. Pumped to have you guys listen to the new song.

HAHA! She thought she had some breaking news, eh? I have to call work in 2 hours to see if they are even opening up today... I'm hoping they don't.

So far I haven't been kicked out. News conference at 8am my time.

Laz, are you making a run for top gear man? Grabbing up all the vintage gear that pops up on craigslist? Here's hoping that the Ric is everything you imagined. It's sort of one of those things that all bass players must try, like a P bass. I haven't tried one yet, so it looks like you win again

Thanks Sam! Really happy with how things are going. Plus we all have personalities that mesh very well together so there is the potential to be a band for a long time.

So about this Rick I've got coming!

Looks like it has normal round wounds on it. Any of you guys use flats on yours? I always put flats on my basses but maybe I'll leave the rounds on there for awhile and see how I like it. However I imagine I'm going to want to put flats on...

The seller told me he got some more info from the original owner. Custom ordered back in '85. Likely one of the last 4001s made, and looks like they may have used a few 4003 parts on it since they were in a transition phase. Pretty cool!

How do you guys anchor your thumbs on these? When I watched Earthride I noticed their bassist anchored on the corner of the pickguard just above the bridge pickup. I have changed my playing technique a lot (and for the better imo) since I owned that Rick copy, using a much lighter touch. I had some old chrome's on mine and I opted for rounds. You will probably want to take that bridge cover off if you have any inkling that it will bother you. And I'm almost positive it has the "suck cap" still wired in it so you may want to jump it to get a fuller sound. I also anchored my thumb on the pickguard above the neck pickup and on the plate that you may or may not remove over the bridge pup.

Use a pick. Leave that cover on to rest your hand on.

Al Cisneros uses flats, so you can listen to him for an idea. I always use chromes when I can. Otherwise just regular d'addario rounds.

You'll need another amp for ric-o-sound btw
