Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 15: Mr. Personality Strikes Again.

Ah, Maiden. Saw them last summer, they kicked ass. This tour seems interesting as well, esepcially if they play fewer songs from their first album ;). One of the few non-doom/stoner metal bands that I enjoy no matter what. Most of the bands that came later (trash metal mostly), I only like a few of their songs, and usually it's only their hits. Just prefer to stick to 70's metal and just a few bands from early 80's.

Well... Black Sabbath and those who had them as their main influence basically :>

Or maybe I'll just give the verellen a go, they did seem to raise almost half the money today and I've been gassing for a meatsmoke. Not to mention that I love my big spider.

Hmn...

I've owned previously boss syb-3 and syb-5 they are cheap plastic compared to bass microsynth. I've traded mine (old version) for malekko barker assmaster. Loved the assmaster, but microsynth is really good. Not sure if it's useful in riffs, but some drone/noise/ambient parts are really cool with microsynth.
Had some drunk live jam with it few weeks ago, it's in the beginning of the video (microsynth - w&c tall font russian - dunlop 105q together)

Tell me about it. I have to pay a premium on everything especially on TB.

On another note, I don't get what the big deal is about shipping to Canada. How much paperwork is involved? I have to fill in one form with the buyers address, item description and value when I send something across the border. Takes 2 minutes to complete, I usually offer $5-10 over the asking price and people still refuse...

Well we're all dumb ignorant amurricans who are afraid your moose courier service will lose the package.

Sartori: I don't know if you saw my earlier post, but it looks like he's doing a Invalid Link Removed in a pedal enclosure and eventually a rack mount: I'm swiftly talking myself into becoming a "backer" on this project and ideally trying to run it through a peavey classic 120/120. Tubed Pre -> Tubed 2 channel Power amp... sounds promising on paper.

Demon666: I know we've briefly discussed the orange-ing... I'm still open to it, but if i spend the cash to go orange, I think i'd rather spend a little more and just get a matamp.... regardless now is not that time unless of course an irresistible deal roll around.

Currently: I've been playing a markbass r500 which I bough quickly after blowing something in an older ss ampeg (I was running 2 at the time.) I like the amp, actually I have no complaints, sounds good, gets dirty, tubed pre, super light. But for some reason I'm just not FLOORED by it. I've also been very recently attracted to the idea of adding more cabs which i feel may be better suited for a system running off of a 2 channel power amp. Then I could run different ohms or stereo or clean / dirty channels... etc. Anyway... that's this week's GAS....

and I though getting my pedal board where i wanted is was bad....

Crazy freaking day.

I paid for that Rick today so should be seeing that in a few days. Really stoked about that.

Picked up that Acoustic 370 as well. $150 for the amp and a Peavey ECS 250 with a blown 18" speaker. The guy was the original owner of the 370 and purchased it retail. The amp is in excellent condition aside from a little rust where the EQ slider knob things meet the actual metal sliders and the corner covers being a bit loose. Tolex is pristine. Electronics could probably use a cleaning as well as all the pots and switches. Only had a minute or two to mess with it before we started practice and it sounds awesome. I likely won't keep it though. If Toastfuzz doesn't want it after playing it we can talk about shipping it out to you demon.

Killer band practice tonight. Got some good recording takes tonight of all if not most of the songs with vocals, and also our new song that we've been working on which is probably the best we've written yet. Band gets better with every practice and the songs get better with each one we write. Gooood stuff.

Oh one more thing. That BB + El Oso pic I posted yesterday, those settings killed it in the band mix today. I am super happy with that pedal. Found a good mix where I have the BB as an always on fuzz, and the El Oso I engage for some massive bone crushing drive. I'm using it more as an OD than a distortion pedal really. I'll have to look into more of Heavy Electronics pedals and the price on this was great and is a keeper.

Someone posted an early 2000's Ric 4003 on our Craigslist one time for $800. Never found out what happened to it, I expected it to pop up again for more but it never did. I think someone actually scored an $800 Ric.

That was probably the one that I bought. It was in York PA and I would say that is was on their about 6 years ago or so.

I ended up selling the thing about a year later for a profit of about a grand. I will say however that their is a huge part of me that regrets doing so.

Good luck with that I've sent them 2 emails and haven't heard back from them at all.:hmm: No US dealers, everything is factory direct which means you have to pay duties on it. Would of been nice to get a response from them. I've been looking for a used one and they don't come up often. You can find used AD200's for around $1400-1600. Not trying to sway you or anything.
