Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 82: Comfortable with Derision

OH Yeah, El Paso is an earworm for sure. I love classic country, must have picked it up from my grandparents. It's just good music. Most of my vinyl purchases lately have been classic country. Just got a couple of Tom T Hall records last week. I'm way too excited about that.

Just finished a Tom T. Hall bender :)

Now, for country stuff, I'm all about Roger Miller.

Finishing up my rock record. When I'm writing/recording, I never listen to anything similar to what I'm working on. Don't want to fall into cliches

Yea, it's definitely some good listening. Tom T Hall is really good. I'll probably be digging out some of the Classic country albums, as well as some other stuff, when I get the new turntable for Chrixmas. All said, My wife will probably regret buying it for Me, haha. I'll probably get the "What happened to Your nice headphones?".

Ha ha ha, I kept thinking Roger Miller where did I hear that name this week. And we watched the the old cartoon Robin hood with the little guy this week and he was the voice of the rooster minstrel singer, lol.

A couple threads ago we were talking about Uncle Acid. I'd previously only had their newest Mind Control album. I liked that one but recently picked up their Blood Lust album and, holy shizz, much better!

IMO- both are excellent, and en-route to Me as We speak. I'd recently gotten around to listening to them a bit, and been youtube jamming both albums while I was doing stuff around the house over the TG Holiday.

Is that the stuff you posted a sample of before? Where you were playing the pbass and the guitarist was using a jazzmaster?

So, here's a PSA of sorts. Was just looking around in our Sale/Clearance room downstairs and came across a Baritone Tele, HSS, Metallic Silver, MIM. It's the same model as this:

There's a tiny ding in the back, near the upper horn. It's discounted fairly heavily. I try not to spam this thread with stuff from the company I work for, but I thought one of you guys might be interested. If so, PM me and I'll send you the details.

Considering that you started these epic threads way back in the day, that's good to hear.

You are the Anu of the S/D threads.

Ha, wow. I didn't remember that I started it, but right on.

My rig has changed a bit. Still the SVT and 810, but now it's a G&L SB-2-> Pitchblack->Loopmaster A/B/Y->A clean to channel 1 of SVT, B through an EHX Mole and Joyo Ultimate drive in to channel 2 of SVT.

Might do away with the 2 channel setup though. The Joyo doesn't suck away the lows like other disto pedals I've had so there might not be a reason to split the signal anymore. We'll see tonight!

Congrats Man! What sort of custom pickguard options are You looking for (You may have already said it, but I forgot)? May take a look at pickguardian or somebody like that. There is also a fella on ebay that cuts custom guards, but his name isn't coming to mind at the moment, so I'd have to think on it for a bit.

I want a standard wbw or pearloid p guard, but a scpb instead and a second scpb pickup in the neck area. Probably just a 4 way switch and jack.

Then I'll use a chrome strat pickup surround on the neck pickup, and the two 50's style chrome overs one over the standard place and one over the bridge. New p bass with 50's style parts and a a bit ric like too.

Yessir! Our drummer lives in Australia, so that makes it a little tough :)

Had a bunch of domestic BS which put me behind on finishing it up, but the drummer is flying back in and we booked our first show, so I kinda need to get back at it!

Cool, can't wait to hear it. I really liked the sample you posted.

Those shirts look great Laz! I'll probably put a preorder for one this weekend. The first shirt I bought ended up being too small, need to do an XL this time. The L technically fit, but I can't pull off a tight fitting tshirt.
