What a great town. Haven't been in years. I'm not all that far away and always wanted to get up there to catch Chuck Berry. I know at least a few years back he was still playing live once a month or so...

I'm in the area, and I also need to see Chuck Berry. He still performs monthly. Can't say I'd expect much of a show (maybe I'd be wrong?), but it'd be worth it just to see a living legend.

From what I hear Chuck's performances are uneven to put it politely, and by all accounts he's a tremendous, despicable *******. He's angry because he was screwed over by poopy promoters / record labels in his youth and is required to continue to play shows to earn a living. He takes this out on musicians, crew, sound people, anyone in his line of sight basically.

Dang. Didn't realize all that. I just figured his show might not be so great because he's so dang old and can't do it like he used to. Now I feel bad and like I NEED to go see a show to support the man... I'll just make sure to not be in his line of sight.

Haha, yeah don't make eye contact. I feel for the guy, he got screwed and should have been able to retire a while ago (considering he pretty much invented rock and roll). Onstage arguments with hired musicians and temper tantrums aren't helping his situation though...

I was just going to say, I don't think he's playing cause he wants to. I can imagine how bitter he must feel about the poopy contracts African American recording artists we're pigeonholed into.

It was a very good night of jamming. My MDT guitarist and I are working on a side project of sorts with various other dudes from various area bands. Basically, I just have a bunch of leftover songs from other bands that I want to record and get out there as free downloads. Gives me a chance to branch out a little bit and work with some different dudes.

Brother, I know right where you are at. After losing all our crap in that flood I bring up twice a week, and after having been in situations multiple times where I (and my wife at times) have had to sell everything of value we owned, I've gotten to the point where I hardly bother acquiring "stuff."

There are lots of things I'd love to have (wants) but since I have a family of four that's been subsisting on only my income for a year and a half (my wife was nearly killed in a car accident in October, 2013 and hasn't been able to work since...she's in terrible physical shape) the "needs" always have to outweigh everything. I've had to sell gear, computers, movie collections, all kinds of stuff, just to buy groceries, keep the water from being shut off, pay the car insurance...it fargin' sucks.

I just bought a decent MIM P bass back in February. I got a good deal and hope to hang onto it, but it's not outside the realm of possibilities that I'll have to cut it loose at any time.

Anyway, not to bore everyone with my personal sob story; just saying--I sympathize.

Forgot to mention... We have likely found our recording spot. Band as a group need to talk more. Drummer just finished recording a few new AA songs and he liked the experience. Cheap as well. Look forward to getting our stuff knocked out for a decent EP. Then we can focus on getting on the club shows soon with some product in tow. Were working on some logo and other art ideas.

I've been a slave to my possessions for far too long. End game of this is I stay in my house and don't have to short sale. The ex is being forgiving as well so our daughter can have a safe place with me in town. We are both making sacrifices to maintain her positive upbringing. High school is right down the street from my house. Looking forward to not paying for after school daycare.

I wish I was at home watching a movie about a werewolf cop, instead of sitting here at my desk at work doing absolutely nothing on a Friday morning. Fridays always seem to be crazy busy or completely dead, depending on if people are rushing to get things done before the weekend or blowing them off. I think the fact that it's a holiday weekend explains the quiet. I have one appointment at 2pm and nothing else going on all day.
