Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

New amp day!

Now to get that 115 cab...

My bosses left for a meeting and emailed me some stuff to finish and the email never came... So I made up my own assignment to do.

Lindt truffle and espresso binge isn't a part of the work but are included.

Is getting a few of my pedals powder coated inexpensive? Or is there a home based option that would work? Just painting them white or black.

Good news: offered a killer new job
Bad news: gotta pass a drug screen before i start :| been a pretty steady user for awhile now. kind of nervous. read a lot of stuff online, gonna try to push back the start date as much as i can to give me time to pass. i don't have any issues quitting to pass, i'm just worried i'll fail. first time i've had to take one since graduating from college so i was kind of surprised.

Thanks guys, it'll be a long recovery but I'm staying positive about it. ( I'm sure the drugs help lol)

Damn, so sorry for your pain and troubles. Be holding good thoughts for you to be back up at 100% soon.

On another note, I have 2 tickets for Ufomammut for May 13th at Reggies in Chicago...

Damn. Wish I could take you up on it. I lived in Chicago from '92-'94 and miss it, though I think it would be inconvenient and expensive to live there with a family.

How west can you go, won't you hit water LOL. I want to see east WA and OR, high desert regions sometime.

Oregon's high desert areas are incredible. Painted Hills, the Wallowa Mountains...

Fvck yee-ahhh!

Is the exhilaration of new gear even more potent when you so recently thought you had been completely screwed over?

Yeah, it kinda is.
The seller forgot to include power cable and some small cr*p like the belt for the bag and that cloth thingy with velcro that goes on the handle, but I'll just let it go, the guy's an idiot and I just don't want to deal with him no more.

Got any male friends who don't cut down trees? Secret agent style

I know that feeling. I had a semi literate guy who was emailing me over and over from craigslist, haggling with me and asking me questions about a cymbal bag I'm selling for $40. At some point I just stopped responding, because I'd rather make no money than keep talking to an annoying idiot.

I've been going back and forth with a potential buyer for my Bass Soul Food. He lives an hour and a half away, but is going to send his friend that lives in town to pick up. It's been no small amount of coordination trying to get this sorted out. I'm right at the threshold of "This is too much work for $50". Hopefully it works out. I offered to just send it to the guy if he paid shipping, but he doesn't do paypal and didn't want to pay shipping. I didn't mention to him that the Shipping might cost less than the gas it would take to get here to pick it up from his buddy... oh well.

I don't even understand how people don't have paypal now. You can use Paypal at Dollar General even. I will find a pedal on Craigslist and it is an hour away. I say I have paypal and will pay shipping, will you just ship it, no.

I watched the Oregon and Tennessee episodes of Aerial America on Netflix Instant last night. What a unique state Oregon is. Pretty cool show. I want to check out an arid climate with minimal changes in barometric pressure to see if my migraines are less there, so next vacation is Arizona. I always wanted to see desert country, especially high desert country.

Every once in a while I see a post on a forum for some really cool piece of gear and totally deflate when it ends with "Money Order or Certified Check only". Come on grandpa, get your poopiee together.

I finally got my girlfriend's father to get paypal. I constantly had to order things for him and he would pay me back. Then is it there, is it there, let me know when it is there. He can rock some paypal and ebay now LOL.

This was happening in my town today, one of my coworkers who lives by me sent it to me, a little precarious...

I've lived in 13 states and spent significant time in many more. There are only 4 US states I haven't been to, and two of those are Alaska and Hawaii.

I've lived from Texas to Minnesota and from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast.

My two favorite states I've lived in are Arizona and Oregon.

Both have such a wide variance in topography and scenery, different biomes, etc.

Arizona in the NE (think Flagstaff) you have mountains with switchback roads, lush forests, waterfalls, etc...but come down from those hills and you are quickly in deep desert. Both aspects of the state are beautiful, and I thought the people were cool as hell (though the cops and politicians SUCK.)

Oregon is also like two states in a way. You have the gorge that separates the western one-third of the state form the high desert areas (the gorge continues into Washington state and Canada with the same differences between "west of the gorge" and "east of the gorge.")

We are stuck in Oklahoma for now due to caring for our aging parents. But once we are free of that, we plan to head West somewhere...

I don't exactly know why, or how to put it into words, but I didn't care for the East coast/far East of the US nearly as much as I loved the West. The scenery was often beautiful, and I love the history around those parts, but while there are great cities to the East that I have visited, lived in, and enjoyed, I don't think we are fated to ever move in that direction again. If not West, possibly South to Texas...

Damn. I talk to much.

I don't use PayPal either, and I never will again.

I had a PayPal account for a short while back 6-7 years ago, used it for a few transactions then got completely hung up by a dishonest scammer a-hole. My account was frozen, my bank account was affected, and I was on the phone or emailing someone about the crap every day or two for the better part of six months until it was resolved. During this process, apparently (according to PayPal) someone was trying to use ID theft to somehow access my PP account on top of all the other crap.

It was just a damn nightmare, and in no way worth it. I would like to use PayPal again also, for the convenience and because so many buyers/sellers request payment that way, but I just ain't gonna go down that road again.
