Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Rant warning: Well, bad news Friday. I'd pre-ordered the new Devi Ever Silver Rose; it showed up today and it's an absolute clunker. When it's off and unpowered, it adds noise when it should be true bypass and clean. When it's off and powered, it adds even more noise. When it's turned on with all volumes at zero, tons of sh!tty white noise. The pots are scratchy. Flipping the EQ switch causes a nasty pop. The Super Fuzz side doesn't sound right. The Eau Claire Thunder side seems kinda fugged up, too. Tried powering off a wall wart, solo off a Pedal Power and in my daisy chain off the Pedal Power. Just a pile of junk. The shipping box was on my doorstep with a ding in the side. Not overly nasty but enough I was worried about the innards. The pedal box on the inside was fine, though. Maybe it was damaged in transit? Maybe it was POS to begin with? I dunno. I emailed CME customer service and asked for a new one. Because I was fired up for the white box pre-order version, I may just take my money back if they can't give me a brand new white one. Bummed the fugg out. Oh well, 1st world problems. Yard work time. :***:

Edit: it does look nice, though!

Edit #2: Heard back from CME, they gave me a return receipt and I'll have the bum Silver Rose out tomorrow with a new one to follow. I asked them to test it this time before they send it. I opened up the one I have to see inside and it was SN 002; bummer to have that no. and have it be a dud. :dead:

Good on CME for quick service, though.

Rant warning: Well, bad news Friday...

Damn man, that sucks. Sorry. Like you said, may be a First World Problem, but dammit, every human is entitled to disappointment without shame, or to justifiable anger.

You were excited about something, you ordered it, you waited and waited, then you got it, excitement reaches a zenith and (***farting trombone noises***)

I'd be pissed too. Sorry.

Similar Friday for me in a way...had my Mexi P Bass on CL for as long as I could wait. Finally had to take it to a pawn shop. Had to take a couple hours off work because the shop in my town was tapped out and not taking anything. Tried to go to Norman and traffic was backed up to friggin' Dallas due to a bridge collapse or flooding out or something. Went to this other small town and could only get $125 for the bass. Not even enough $ to pay off a bill or get me through until I have some cash again. I pawned it anyway. I guess the upside of it is I may actually be able to get it back outta pawn someday.

But now I have to work 2 extra hours this evening and all day tomorrow. Blows.

Oh yeah--youse peoples hold a good thought if you would--my wife put in for a good city employee job (I'm also a city employee so maybe that'll help...) We don't want to live where we are living forever necessarily, but if she gets this gig it would double our income and sure as hell decrease our monthly money struggle. Might help with her depression some too. And it's not a strenuous or 8 hours on your feet job so I don't think it would take a big toll on her physically.

Plus, if she lands the job, I can actually see an amp on the horizon. Amp lack is the only thing keeping me from jamming with this old drummer buddy of mine. I don't like to toot my own horn a lot, but back in the day he and I were a pretty damn intimidating rhythm section.

Sounds like a fun time. I've never seen Judas Priest live.
Had my chance to see them when touring screaming for vengeance, tickets in hand un used, may still have them. Weeks earlier made a mistake taking the 4x4 silverado out without a licence... Fleeing the scene of a minor fender bender took a little while to catch up to me. Thought I was scott free. Was grounded for the entire summer that year. When your father speaks to you through his teeth you know it's not good.

Yup. One thing about Summer in the South. More ting tang than you can shake a stick at.

Prettiest girls I've seen per capita were in Lafayette, Louisiana. Christ jesus.

Morning gentlemen.
Clearwater Beach, home of the T-back. Jeebus, I swear some of these weren't legal. Plus, you can drink on Clearwater Beach. No glass.

Although I hear it's not nearly as nice since BP. Sad.
