Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Why does the manager of GC keep emailing me about their lame sales? I mean seriously I got so screwed on the trade in of my Lakland Skyline and my Marshall Combo that they should never contact me again based on just common courtesy. Sorry, I'm getting sick and the email has put me in rage mode as well as the absences of two new students who are still in their four day eval period.

I had a feeling it would come to this. Sorry to hear Lemmy is not able to keep going. Last time I checked them out was 3 or 4 years ago before all the heath issues.

On another note I've been messing with the Gecko and may take it to practice Saturday for a rip. The active pickups sound great but it's currently strung on the light side of things .118 B.

somebody in LA bought tickets from my friend for atoms for peace, went to the show with some lady, and then demanded his money back, because they didn't like the band
some folks our here are total d bags

This is the point where a guy smoking a filterless cigarette with a backhand grip takes a long grip and says "You didn't pay for enjoyment, you paid for an experience maaaaan".

So the Earth show is next week, the day before my birthday. I ran into the owner of the venue a few weeks back and he said to be sure and buy tickets because it'll sell out. He's not one B.S. so I got my ticket.

Last night my wife asked "Wasn't there a show you wanted to go to around your birthday? I could buy your ticket as a birthday present." I reminded her it was Earth and while she likes the band, she has no interest in seeing them live. So I told her that I already got the ticket because dude said it was going to sell out. Her response: "Really? People actually want to see that band live?"

Yes, people do. And I'm one of them.

They played in Richmond last Sunday but the openers were a yawn and it was a Sunday so I skipped it.
Don't feel too bad, I thought my ol' lady was going to stab me when she saw me typing alt-country in the youtube search box a couple days ago.

We have similar taste in a lot of music, and while she enjoys Earth, she can't fathom why anyone would want to sit through an hour of them onstage playing v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.

I can kind of see her point.

Local band Droids Attack is opening and they're super high-energy. It's going to be a weird show.

Yeah they need to have folding poolside chairs at slow tempo shows.

Well just pulled out the 86 RB650 and I think it's time to pull it apart and pot these pickups. Same settings on the amp and pedal board it goes into feedback squeal freak out unless I turn the gain down on the HPF or the pedals. ATK or the Gecko have none of this happening.

Shouldn't have, but did it anyway category.

Bass Northwest is unfortunately going out of business. I had a chance to finally go by there a couple years back and meet Evan. Had picked up my first Bag End cabs from them.

They are offering some good deals on the new inventory. I've had Jazz GAS for a while, lo and behold they had a new Ibanez Black Eagle reissue in stock.
Not any more. Not a traditional Jazz and not an expensive Warmoth build either.

I should see it next week.

I saw that too, wasn't aware that they had done a reissue on those. Pretty cool.

This is pretty much $200 off list or so and way less than a warmoth build so I jumped. There is a killer new GL that was tempting but I'm an Ibanez freak at heart.
Take a look you guys he's closing at the end of the month. Help Evan out and clear some stock for him.
