Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Can anyone suggest a pedal power supply?
My cheap Joyo just died after 3 months.
Currently only running 9v pedals.

I use a voodoo labs PP2+. It does everything and really I can't justify anything less, for me. I just like knowing that I can run damn near anything. I paid $175 IIRC but with it I got a dozen patch cables, a behringer reverb and a pedaltrain 2 with the soft case. Deals pop up every now and then.

Which Abominable Effects pedals have you guys tried out? The Toke Machine and God Botherer are looking pretty cool right now...

I have a Hail Satan(hail cannabis edition) and love it. It has been replaced by my Iron Fist but it really is a great muff. It was definitely a close call. It may be on the chopping block soon as I do really want a god botherer. Let me know if you are interested.

I don't have enough money to be constantly checking out pedals.

Yeah, never enough cheese to sate the pedal gas.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind.

At the moment their are no pedals I 'need', but I bet I could have loads of fun with a phaser, octave, or wah.

And of course, I could probably have 6 different dirt pedals on my board and still want more.

Currently though, OD, Fuzz, Delay, and comp are everything that I need, which is what's on my board.

Chorus pedal cause of Dave's weird chorusy, reverbed out parts?
Yup. And I've got one more place on my pedalboard to fill.

What reverb is he using (Neurosis) it sounds great live but I haven't been close enough to get a good look at his board. I just remember he had a custom switcher that's about it. All the reverbs/delays I've tried on bass sound super muddy.
According to teh Internets, he uses a Boss CH-1. I'm not a fan of reverbs too. Had a Line6 Verbzilla borrowed from my guitarist for a few weeks some time ago, left me cold. The only good reverb tone on bass I've heard was Jeff Caxide's of Isis. Love delays, though. Not that I find a lot of use for them, but they are just so cool to play with.
Dave's board. He actually has two choruses, CE-2 and CH-1. Maybe that's the key, two choruses turned on simultaneously.

I have the Don't Shred On Me. Pretty nice RAT clone with lots of low end.

Octaves are probably my favorite pedals, but also an effect that I can never quite figure out where to insert. My Extreme Octave has a simply righteous fuzz and another foots witch for octave up. It's pretty cool and I could see myself using it far more if I was in a trio, but with two guitars I don't think octave up is what I need.

God Botherer and an Afterneath are my two big GAS items right now. I'm also interested in a cheap flanger that doesn't kill the lows and I'm always interested in small simple delays with a long delay time.

I need to order pick guards for my furies though and I'm being lazy about it because I don't really want to drop the coin on custom guards. Also need guts for one of them so I can put my model Ps to use.

The only decent reverbs I've heard on bass were Isis and I saw Sierra live the guy was using a delay or reverb kinda hard to tell which. I also just saw this band Inaeona open for Cult of Luna and the bassist definitely was using some verb and it sounded great. The only modulation effect I use on bass personally is a Boss BF-3 which I love. I like it better then the chorus personally chorus kinda sounds Jamaicany to me.

My band has but one guitarist, and there have been many times I've wished for an octaver. I tend to play a lot of chordy type stuff, and rung open notes, up the neck etc, and so it would be great to have a good octave to add some thickness when I play up high, or to plug on when I want to play low notes, so I could stay in standard tuning.

The God Botherer looks cool just because I love phasers, but can't really justify one on bass on its own.

Please bear in mind these are rough and raw junk from the garage. Headphones facilitate hearing the bass, but you ain't missing much if you can't hear it either.

Just selected a couple of our tracks that happened to have a somewhat Wild West theme. We do a lot of different material, instros, some horror-themed stuff, originals with vox, some covers of old fuzz classics, etc.

Most of our stuff is recorded on 30 year old cassette 4 tracks.

Hope you enjoy.

Or not.

PS: The name of the project is NOT Muddslide.

this is great, the lo-fi recording suits it well too. I especially like the bassline on the Bullets.

Many thankee! The bass on that one is one of the few I actually worked on for more than a minute and did more than one take of.

My partner wants to add a twangy solo to that one...he doesn't think it has enough going on. I'm on the fence.

But thanks, really.

Just had a chance to play the Black Eagle received yesterday afternoon. I'm not surprised to find the neck inlay looks to be a transfer under the finish. Tone is bright and has some growl to it... Will probably be converting this to BEAD faster than initially anticipated.

Was expecting some single coil noise, none present so far. Was running clean to the SWR with no pedals so well see later today how that works out.

We had a fantastic show at the downtown lounge last night. They got a new guy running sound out front, he made us bring our stage volume down pretty considerably, but it was the best stage mix we've had for sure. Almost flawless set, tons of complements on my tone and vocals. All in all a major ego boost after the major screw up that was our last show there.

Well gotta finish the last 10 pages of the master musicmaster thread, but I think I found most of the info I need to determine what I might do to it.

Read a guys bit where he installed new transformers a speaker and a few components and it got much louder and more headroom and more lows/even response. Only real consideration left barring new info is what kind of Wiring circuit will I use for the one tone knob in the amp?

All together around $150 hopefully in stuff, speaker dependent. I'm thinking a used 8 ohm v30

Copied about a mile of text on these amps into a note pad to refer to as I typically do during research, helps a lot. Especially because some stuff disappears.

I have the toke machine. The hail satan is more to my taste. An octave up is not all that useful to me and I don't prefer the grit on the fuzz over the HS and Muff options on the deluxe.
I was happy to have @Turkeypills pick up my Hail Cannabis on my last purge. The only reason that was kicked aside was because the HS Deluxe has clean blend and additional EQ.

Going to open up a slot on my board soon. After reading up on the Sans Amp VTRM there is already a subsonic filter. So I don't really need the HPF3 on my board per se.

Now with the Black Eagle having V/V/T I need a volume pedal again.
