Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

We had a fantastic show at the downtown lounge last night. They got a new guy running sound out front, he made us bring our stage volume down pretty considerably, but it was the best stage mix we've had for sure. Almost flawless set, tons of complements on my tone and vocals. All in all a major ego boost after the major screw up that was our last show there.

That's kickass. I may have asked, but what's the name of your band? Won't be moving up that way anytime soon it looks like, but I do get to town fairly often. Maybe it'll sync up sometime and I can check you guys out.

Pretty good practice today, we always seem to do less than was planned, though. The third track is coming along nice, although it doesn't really seem to sound stonery or doomy. Heavy and psychedelic - yes. Stoner or doom - well, I don't know.

Eh, labels schmabels. I'm a big proponent of letting it flow. Sometimes it's nice to veer into territory that's not you usual roaming ground. Change things up. Think of Sabs' Planet Caravan. My daughter hardly believed it was them. There's all kinds of heavy,

With the number of nice 12" speakers out there you could hot rod this thing to be a beast.

Yea I'm just not very familiar or knowledgable about any. Weber seems to be popular, cannabis Rex, blue tick? And the v30 was just a speaker I always see being listed as a favorite, however I'll have to look into how it's EQ'd.

$30 and the arm and a new plate for the SG's vibrato are on their way from Edmonton, Alberta.

Which Abominable Effects pedals have you guys tried out? The Toke Machine and God Botherer are looking pretty cool right now...

I had a Hail Satan (bubble font clone) fuzz that was great but I moved it in a purge. Currently have a Yeti Metal aka Throne Torcher (HM2 clone) that my guitar player uses. I think my original HM2 has more low end, though the mids control on the clone is a nice feature. Ordered a God Botherer.

Got a dog yesterday. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Cute little thing. If you don't see me around these parts as much for a while, you know why! Also, anyone know a way to train a dog to walk on non-carpeted surfaces? This thing is terrified of anything that isn't carpeted. Never thought that would be an issue. Also surprised that she's only 2 months old and seems pott-trained already! Very nice, though I've only had her two days. Time will tell tomorrow, when my wife and I are at work all day. Wish me luck!

It will get the hang of it. Got a name yet?

Akio has a hard time with all our uncovered floors and prefers to take the throw rug route through the house. Kitchen and mud room are laminated floors, he will fall on his ass when rushing.
She's Lucy. The breeder/vet said all the puppies in this litter were a bit scared of the tiles in her home. She'll walk on the tile in the kitchen a bit, but not much and only with much prompting and treats. Gotta figure this out, since most of our house is tile or hardwood! She's barely left a 5x8 patch of rug in the living room!

Treats, time and gentle coaxing, she'll eventually cave in through that and the craving to explore. Might trim her nails if they too long and sliding around.

Leela hated stairs, she's good now. Just kept taking her places that required them. Water is still only for drinking in her book.

When I got Leela she didn't have shots yet, and Texas was flooding rain everyday so during that time I took her to Home Depot or lowes to walk around and socialize since dog parks and walking around were not suggested. Petco isn't safe for her yet. Strange potentially unhealthy dogs tramp through 12 hours a day and touch everything.
