Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I get ya. If there is a will there is a way.
Looking at the old nut it looks like they drilled the nut with appropriate hole size then opened the slot just enough for the string to pop in. So each one pretty much has an overhang. Pretty sloppy IMHO. But that's what you get for an over dressed jazz bass for less than half an american standard cost.

Noticing a couple edges where the finish was burned a little but this is all getting into the microscopic territory.

Never had a bound neck before. Doing me best not to scratch anything. :)
I have some 1/4 brass nut shims but I cut a piece in half with a pair of scissors no problem and hammered it back flat. I can mail you some if you can't find anything or you can order brass nut shim on ebay in 1/8 size from the same place I ordered. They shipped pretty fast.

..,then took off to the San Bruno/South SF/San Mateo for "bachelor party" stuff for my brother. He doesn't drink, neither do any of his friends except one, so it wasn't really a party hard atmosphere...

Fvck is wrong with the younger generation?!?!?

I haven't looked at the internet much since Thursday...I saw Muddslide's post though..
I dig it man, super cool lo-fi garage/surf rock feel.

Thanks so much bruvver. All about trying to have fun.

We have a gig at the DNA lounge on the 23rd.

With a touring band, Inaeona.
With a guarantee, apparently.

So far the promoter seems to have done little to no promotion.

I find this a bit concerning.
Yep, DNA lounge can be pretty sketchy. Makes me wonder how they manage to get some of the bigger names they do get, but I guess there's not a lot of options for mid-level heavy bands in SF.

Last time I played there was a similar story (didn't even have a flyer until like the week of) but I figured they were just relying on the headliners' draw.

I'm not familiar with Inaeona...

ION are shaging cool dudes though, I used to share a space with them. Any bill with both of you guys on it is gonna be monstrous. I'm gonna try and skip out of practice to make it to this show...

We've played with Ion a couple times. We love playing with those guys. Partly because we get to see them for free that way. :p

My boss rules, she just handed me this shiny golden bag of goodness and said I remember you saying you wanted to try some Gourmet Hawaiian Mahakea micronized Awa(Kava). Go make yourself a morning kava. The primo stuff, dude actually grows this kava in Hawaii, and is a kava guru, freshest kava I ever had. Might need a seat belt for my office chair today! 3-2-1

Oh man, Focusrite finally released actual Thunderbolt based audio recording interfaces, but I don't have the dough to buy one. Not that I have any big recording projects lined up anyway, but the industry has been lagging on Thunderbolt based interfaces and Focusrite is my preferred brand. I know I could defray some of the cost if I can sell my current Firewire based Focusrite interface afterward. Recording gear GAS is the worst GAS.

TB Doomers, new EP is now available. Hope you enjoy!

Sounds killer Sam!

Wow, today I screwed up at work for the first time since I don't even remember when. And only because I was too sure of what I do and didn't check twice. Got chewed up mildly. Forgot what a shvtty feeling it is...
At least got my reissue Neurosis Times Of Grace LP today.
Found a cheap used Boss CH-1, gonna give it a shot.

Resident Audio has some nice T-bolt interfaces, they're an off-shoot of Zoom - quality stuff. Probably cheaper than the focusrite.
