They're not quite up to the level of features I need for recording. That's been the problem I've had, because there have been some other Thunderbolt interfaces debuted in recent years. They're usually either just a few channels and super expensive, 8 channel but no preamps or 8 channels with so-so preamps. I really like the Focusrite preamps. Once I got my Liquid Saffire 56 I sold all my outboard preamps, eventually. The new Focusrite models are pretty much upgraded version of the 56 and a version of the OctoPre as an actual interface. They have 8 preamps, 8 analog I/O, a couple different digital I/O, monitor and headphone controls. If I got the bigger new one, I could still use my Octopre for expansion when I need 16 inputs, as it's just an ADAT preamp expansion and not an interface by itself. If I only just recorded at home and never did live band stuff I could easily get away with 2-4 inputs and use something like those Resident Audio units or some of the other smaller Thunderbolt interfaces I've seen around lately.

On this subject, anybody have recommendations for an USB / Thunderbolt interface with 2 preamps that won't break the bank? Anything worthy under $100? best under $200? I have an elderly firewire Yamaha m-LAN i88x that works great and has 8 channels, but that's tied to my desktop, but it would be handy to have something that can play with my laptop (no firewire) and be portable.
Hardcore, man. I used to raise hell all the time when I was in my 20s, got kicked out from lots of weird places. Now I barely drink, even our band practices became beer free for some reason.
Bought new strings, probably gonna buy that Boss chorus today, ran 7 klicks - nothing like a good workout after a shvtty end of the day at work.
Move to Wisconsin, no one would bat an eye.

I'm thinking about scaling back my recording rig. Selling stuff off and reducing down to the essentials, as I'm only really tracking 2 or 3 projects a year at this point. Not sure I even want to record other bands anymore and I don't have any band of my own that requires more than one or two simultaneous tracks to record...at home. I could always leave myself just enough to record a drum kit bare bones, like I used to.
Corey - I'd hold on to the recording stuff unless you really need the cash. That's nice stuff to have around, even if it only gets used occasionally.
So we brought in a hired gun to be my team's new boss at work, she's been great so far - kicking ass and taking names, giving us the training, resources and experience that we so sorely need. I'm only 28, and you'd have to pay me to take 8 shots. Two day long hangovers kinda killed drinking much hard liquor for me (not enough drink for the amount of drunk that results), and more than a few beers at once. For me.
I'm just unloading stuff I have duplicates of or don't use frequently. I made a list of everything I need to keep to track a live band with my preferred setup(s).
If anyone here is interested in any of these, I'll do these prices shipped and PayPal'd.

I can't drink only hard liquor, but a couple of shots of bourbon go well with a night beer drinking.
I drink straight whiskey almost exclusively with a beer here and there. 8-10 shots is pretty regular for me, though I only drink but maybe once or twice every two weeks.
Cool stuff. I've heard of the MD421 before. Haven't heard of the others. Thinking about some of them.
I basically can't drink bourbon anymore. It was that "thing I drank way too much of" in my college days. I didn't like it that much even then, but it was cheap and on sale at the liquor store near us almost all the time. Ugh. Kinda turning my stomach just remembering.
I can't do that anymore. Pretty much just drink beer these days.
Haha, yeah I've been there, by all accounts i should feel the same way but I don't. Cuervo on the other hand, ugh instant shivers and nausea just thinking about it.

I used to drink Bac151, until the day I woke up on some train tracks in my underwear missing my contacts and house keys with no recollection of the night. (Luckily I lived about 50 yards from the tracks)
Now even the smell of rum makes me retch so I generally drink fancy imported beer, see picture.

Well report on God Botherer arrived last night but I was 4 beers in for the evening. It's a wacky idea that may be better in the effects loop as opposed to the front of amp signal chain. Will have to play some more with it later.
I'm way off my old drinking habits. Coffee as well. Just don't hit either as much as I used to.
