Wow, I never thought about it till now but none of my free-roaming animals ever stay in the room with my music gear, never. At leas the African Grey loves it, must be tone deaf.

But she does it complain loudly? Lucy yelps like crazy and briefly tried to run up the stairs. She was at the point where she didn't feel safe with the bass "noise", but also didn't feel safe if I wasn't with her, so leaving wasn't much of an option either. Felt like I was torturing her. And she's got a sad looking face as it is.

Didn't you lose two also headrush pedals to a roamer?

I don't hear any whining from the crew, the five inside dogs. Occasionally my cocker spaniel will sit by my feet as I play. My beagle does leave the room and go upstairs, but he hates thunder too.
Do you have a kennel you could keep her outside during practice?
On a side note, I told my girlfriend you got a King Charles Cavalier and she drool. We got kind of pseudo Kings(like sort of mini Cocker Spaniels) as our Cocker bred with our Pomeranian and so now we two Cockeranians. She wants a big goofy Clumber Spaniel some day.

Yep that same bastard music critic that gets up and leaves the room loves to use my gear area to be sick in whenever he finds dead squirrel or bird to dine on.

Squanch - African Greys love music, does yours dance? We had an awesome one at the pet shop i worked at, we'd take him back into the warehouse sometimes where we had a cd player and he'd get super excited and dance. It was awesome.

She's good if I'm not giving her attention, but my wife HAS to give her attention. My wife hasn't been as diligent in making her wait etc. I'm just worried about the loudness factor. I'm thinking I might temporarily move her indoor kennel to the bedroom when we practice, at least until she gets used to it.

Maybe pick up a bigger crate that she can play in for temporary outside time while you practice. I actually found three 8 X 10 kennels for cheap on Craigslist. We do have a fenced in dog area but it is nice to have that double walled security like when we had tiny pups.

Anybody ever have a dog that doesn't like bass? Barely been able to play, but it's not looking good. Wife said the dog freaked out when I played a bit a few days ago, but then a buddy played my bass and she seemed fine. Just a few minutes ago I took her into the band room (kinda, she just stared at me from the door) and played about 10 mins of low volume bass riffage. She whined a whole lot, and I kept giving her treats so she'd equate bass with good stuff. I'm concerned about band practice. This Wednesday went well, but my wife was home and had her in the bedroom. She typically stays in the living room which is directly above the practice space. My wife won't be around next week, either. Suggestions? Trying to get her to like (or at least tolerate) loud music early.

You could also try giving her a calming chew. It's like all natural puppy xanax. We use them for Stella during thunderstorms.

So far one seriously close thunder scared her. So close my hairs all stood up, so I don't blame her. I fired a .22 in front of her a few times and she didn't blink.

If she hears a siren or Harley within 100 feet she'll howl like a wolf, it's hilarious. Has to be real though, I tried playing those noises through my sound system at home and she wasn't phased.

When i was a kid our dog would howl/sing along to the theme from The Young and the Restless. Every goddamned time it was on.

I always thought mdma was overrated and way preferred acid. I used to get some killer, clean acid. In liquid form, at times.

Back then, hit o' x was $25 and up. Hit o' cid was $5 and up. To me, good acid was immeasurably a better, more profound experience, though I've had good evenings on both substances. Mostly confined to the 1980s.

My dog Violet acted strangely when she first heard me playing music on the stereo, but seems mostly okay with my bass playing. I've discovered, though, she freaks out over feedback and goes nuts when I play harmonica. She tries to hit the same pitches as me, but it really just sounds like she's screaming.

Is a calming chew any different than her preferred chew toy? I know it's probably a stupid question, but the xanax part makes me think maybe it's something different. Either way, I'll have to try. I'm going to play tomorrow and the wife will be home, so I'm hoping to acclimate Lucy to the noise level a bit then, too.
