Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Today was supposed to be moving day for us. New house was smaller but a little cheaper and far nicer. Went over this morning and...roaches.

Place seems clean otherwise. Homeowners are cool, installed new dishwasher, new kitchen floor, painted everything including the cabinets, and they've had multiple exterminators over for the bugs, but this morning there were little roaches on the ceilings of almost every room. Dammit!

Now have to scramble to get the deposit back, talk to current landlord, cancel moving truck, stop all the utilities from transferring...gah.

Man, what a great day for golf it was yesterday. Played a quick nine at a course close to Mom's, dropped a 49 (with 3 stinkin' 7s), and it's not an easy course. sunny, about 47 degrees, played by my lonesome, had a great time. Much, much better way to spend an afternoon than watching the Browns get the sh!t kicked out of them

That sounds nice. I understand the appeal of things like golf, but I am so very much NOT a sports guy. Played some hockey and wrestled a few years way back in elementary school, lots of frisbee and frontyard football and basketball, but I don't watch or care about sports at all.

I live in a state where the main source of pride and entertainment is the college football teams (OU Sooners and OSU Cowboys) and the pro b-ball team (OKC Thunder) so people are aghast and confounded when they learn I don't care. Never even know when the teams are playing. People look at me like I've grown eye stalks.

Thats always been my view. Its mine now! However, its kinda like that day when you realize youre dating a crazy chic, you love her, and now your stuck with her! lol

You broke it, you bought it

I have been watching that Red Roads series on Netflix and your comment reminds of the cop with the wife who hears voices. She ran over a kid and he is trying to cover it all up.

Yeah my buddy was playing football on the radio as we hung last night. My girlfriend kept winking at me because I was standing in the circle and they were talking sportsball and she knew they might of well have been talking in another language to me. I had to say sorry man I don't have a friggin' clue about sportsball. Didn't want to pretend, as thought it best to be honest. He giggled some and we talked music instead. Good man.

Been there so many times.
Moved to Louisiana right after LSU won something just before the Saints won the superbowl. Couldn't do anything without people trying to relate to me with one team or the other.
I usually opted for the blank autistic stare.

in a rare moment of clarity and motivation i cleaned up a bunch of art supplies in the garage and i posted my mini fridge on craigslist, next up is the two horse ranch photo shoots and trying to sell my ludwig drumset and avedis cymbals, the guys building the retaining wall didn't show yet, thinking of maybe getting a roland bass/keys amp for a monitor or for the sub channel, cause those are pretty darn heavy duty according to the girls in shekhan and indian jewelry

golf is my relaxation game. I don't refer to it as a sport, because you cannot smoke a cigarette during an activity and call it a sport.

Been there. Had my spector leaned up against the wall at practice the other day. Walked out of the room to grab a beer or something and the drummers dogs ran through the practice space and knocked my spector down on the concrete and busted a big ol chip out of the headstock. I almost killed everyone, even if it was my fault for not having a stand with me at the time.

My heart sank reading that.

I would be all, "Your fuqing dog better enjoy the bass you just bought."

Scored a JOyo UD for $20 used at my local GC. Spent a few hours with it yesterday learning Bowie songs on guitar for an "audition/jam" tonight. Fun playing skinny strings again, but man, I am NOT a great lead player :)

And my old lead player is sending me his Caroline Olympia fuzz because he doesn't use it anymore. Kind of a germanium fuzzface/bender thing, can't wait.

New pedal weeks rock.

OK chefs/cooks/kitchen workers, on a scale of 1-10 how offended would be after this thing that just happened at lunch:

We have an onsite restaurant, we're out in the boonies so when we moved to this building we added a restaurant, hired a chef and small staff (3-4 people). They do a great job and the food is pretty damn good. It's set up in a line, you go up and order your food, they dish it out or fry/broil/grill the food in front of you and serve it up.

So I'm standing in line with most of my department co-workers waiting for food when another co-worker appears IN the kitchen, behind the line (basically in everyone's way) and asks the chef: "Hey Chef is the french onion soup actually good today?' Chef replies "Yeah, it's great, just had a bowl myself." Co-worker replies: "OK, but is it ACTUALLY good or are you just saying that?" Not said in a joking way at all.

My jaw hit the floor, I can't think of a more rude thing to say to a kitchen staff, WHILE STANDING IN THEIR KITCHEN.

So, am I wrong? I can't imagine this happening in any other restaurant.

Thoughts?

Wow that's a fair bit beyond insulting.

I don't cook for a job but I do 95% of the cooking at home for my wife and kids, and 95% of that is from scratch with basic, fresh ingredients. I hear FAR WORSE from my admittedly savage untamed 6 and 4 year old boys "that's DISGUSTING. I'm NEVER EVER gonna eat THAT".

If they weren't the sole legacy of my tiny existence in this huge empty universe, I would END THEM.

Instead I just deny them dessert when they lip off.

In any case that guy all up in the kitchen is completely out of line and shoulda got at least a quarter of the pot of soup down his shirt.
