Ironically, as soon as I got my home rig all setup perfect for my doom stuff on guitar, I started getting into playing surf rock. So I've been doing everything direct into Logic with plugins for that. Mostly because the key piece of gear for that sound I don't have is an outboard spring reverb tank to run BEFORE the amp. I'm working on getting a kit built for the cost of parts and trade on labor though, which is a lot more affordable than every other option.
Vintage grill cloth, trans white and tort.... Almost feel like a blues lawyer, except for the fact that my whole rig/guitar costs less than most of their guitars.
I'll tell you what, those Emi speakers are way louder than what ever is in my old guitarists 412. It is loud for a 212.
My new 1x12 is louder than my old 2x12 was and that was loud enough to play a show with a hard hitting drummer. I put an Eminence Swamp Thang in there, which is think may be the loudest guitar 12" they make. It is crazy loud, I have to turn my 15w tube amp down to almost nothing to be quiet with it at night.
I think I'm going to put a Legend 1218 in the Ampeg AC12. Descriptions say that they're even, without much high-end brightness. Seems like the closest match to the flat-ish sounding driver that's in there. I don't want to use the dark ampeg flavor of that amp. It's great for QOTSA tones when fed with a dirt pedal.
Also, I'm a terrible guitar player. Power chords + all the effects is about as far as I go. Still fun.

The Wizard is the loudest speaker they make 103.5db/w/m:

But all these speakers are within 2db or so of output.

Most of their high wattage 12" are pretty loud. They sound good out of the box too. I gave the stock Celestion G12H30 a fair shake first, but I hated the way it sounded.

Eventually I will end up with a Classic 20. Will make my 212 very gigable for everything but true doom level stuff.
The old guitard had an huge oversized fender 212 loaded with them, that cab was crazy.

It's an Egnater Tweaker 112. After a lot of research I realized it was essentially the same specs and quality cab as an unloaded Avatar, for less money, with a name brand speaker in it that I could sell. I bought it for $212 shipped as warehouse deal from Amazon ("damaged box" had two tiny dents in, cab was mint), sold the speaker for $80 in a day on CL, bought the Swamp Thang for $88 shipped on a Cyber Monday deal. So for about $220 I got an brand new well made baltic birch 1x12 guitar cab with a new Eminence speaker. I was pretty proud of all that wheelin and dealin.

I got my 212 with neo speakers built for about double that. Not too shabby on either deal.
Met a girl and after two dates on her side of town that appeared more friendly than anything, so I kind of wrote it off. Also wasn't all that attracted in the end. Interesting girl, but not my type in several ways.
So she asked to visit over last Friday, she's nice at least so I said ok. Then she just never left until Sunday night... Again nothing, then suddenly before she left she flipped 180 and went all down and dirty. Then suddenly said she was coming over without much warning last night. Showed up and in under two hours drained me 6 times... She woke up and left without actually telling me she was leaving.
She's now texted me about how she needs to start leaving her stuff here? And she's only dated once before and only got have sex once... And needs to do it all.
How far does one let something like this go?
