I'm looking to build a rack tube preamp to use with my Peavey Classic 120/120 poweramp.
What are you favorite preamps? (doesn't have to be just a preamp, I can build just the pre section)
There's the standard SVT pre, but it's a bit complex for turret. Willing to go that route if need be, as it's a sure win, but it may be hard to do that on turret space-wise. There's the classic Alembic pre's which are more simple, but Alembic doesn't typically scream "Heavy!".
What have you used that works well for our genre? I haven't had the pleasure to play many tube bass pre's in person, but I know many of you have!

It's not fun until everyone's a little offended.
Also king of the hill taught me there's even fauxfu for the tofu intolerant lol so there's protein for everyone.
Preamps Ive liked.. SVP-PRO, Ashdown RPM,
Preamps I thought were good but not for me.. Fender tbp-1 (could be great for our genre depending on your tastes.. it was more wooly than I wanted.

This is exactly the stuff I'm looking for, thanks! Anyone else care to chime in?
Edit: I don't want to clone anything from someone that's starting out, like JGR, etc. Fender/Ampeg/Ashdown/BigNames, etc, I'm not worried about. Especially since it's just for personal use.
the ashdown RPM is actually pretty killer... It would have been in the keeper list except its 2 space AND i have the ABM-500 evo II, so it didnt need it.. you can get em cheap too!
Yeah, meatsmoke is totally killer, but I don't want to step on his toes by cloning it.
After tonight I'm turning in my man card too 
Can load in the Barefaced one-handed without breaking a sweat. Sounds great so far, although I'll reserve judgement til I get a chance to play with the rest of the band.

My nephew had the same reaction when he found out he was getting a little sister. Just cried, because he has too many female cousins I guess. I guess there are more girls in that family tree, but having gone to Disneyland with him I can say the kid is a hall of fame crybaby.
When I was hauling my SVT-CL head around, if it wasn't just sitting on top of my 810 (which has wheels), I brought a small collapsing hand truck to move it around. No big deal.

how you like that delay?
It's great, especially the oscillation switch. I only really use it for noise and ambient stuff though, so I can't say how good it'd be for a "traditional" delay.
You can't set the tap tempo when the effect is bypassed, which is quite annoying. I think there's been some quality control issues as well - the first one I got made no sound when bypassed, and I've read quite a few other complaints.
Fairly cheap though, so worth a shot I reckon!
New pickguard, not a perfect fit so I'll need to look again when I get home and file or talk to the guy if it's too much, but otherwise it's perfect and looks amazing IMO.
