Looks good Sam! Is the P dinged up or is that a weird lighting artifacts? Either way it looks awesome!

We survived our Black Sababth Pilgrimage to Detroit. As we were approaching the city limits, literally the DARKEST could I've ever seen descended over the city, entirely blocking out the sun, turning day into night in about 5 minutes. It rained a little bit, but no serious storms followed. My wife and I could only conclude that it must have been a literal cloud of DOOM descending over city as Sabbath got ready to play. Unreal.

The show was shagING AMAZING, can't even put it into words. Palace was sold out, 25,000 people all singing War Pigs made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Apparently we missed the mass shooting in Kalamazoo by a few hours, glad we didn't stop there for gas.

In band news, got our first show booked, with Mr. Matt Pelham's HeavyCraft and Thorr-Axe, possible 4th band to be added later. We have a little work to do before April 9th, but we'll get there. Got a friend working on a logo and some artwork, it's all coming together.

A friend and I once zip-tied a dead squirrel to the tailgate handle of another friend's pickup truck. It was summer time. He drove around like that for a week until one night he had to open the tailgate, it was dark and he was in a hurry. I guess the squirrel sort of exploded in his hand. He threw up.

It was payback for lighting my friend's feet on fire while he was underneath a car working on it (apparently brake cleaner will burn off very quickly and not burn someone alive, never tested that hypothesis so don't try it at home). Prank war ended there, thankfully.

Grocery store guy from today was sitting in his drivers seat when I came out of the store, pretty sure he had no idea so I didn't say anything. Wanted to say something stupid like "How about them balls?!" But figured that would ruin the joke.

You guys are savage. My pranks are quite mild, but any one of my friends or relatives is fair game. Whenever I am in their home, I sometimes like to move the victim's phone, wallet, keys or other generally necessary item to a different place in the house. I don't hide it. I just move it and leave it in the open in a place they would not be accustomed to placing it. I rarely see or hear about the payload, but it doesn't matter. I know I get them every time. Phantom pranks.

Need some assist on troubleshooting here.

I installed a P+J set of used Dimarzio Models today. Simple circuit, no tone control.

This wiring linked here.

Anyway, half of the split-P pickup isn't working (E/A strings). I do get sound when plucking those strings, but super quiet, relative to everything else.

Both vol pots work, the J pickup works, and the high strings (D/G) half of the P works fine.

Can you guys suggest where the fail may be? I thought if the P wiring were bad, the whole P/U wouldn't work...

The other bummer is that the Dimarzio J isn't "wide" like it needs to be. But I didn't let that stop me. :)

So... I have a Mesa Subway headed my way.
Now on to Overdrives. So I've been checking out demos on the Darkglass stuff. I have a Demon King so I'm not in desperate need. Just looking for a new flavor. The Darkglass has great lower gain sounds. But get fizzy up top pretty quick. You guts EQ that out, or?
Any other new or old stuff I should look at?

Try re soldering the P pickup. After that... you got me.

Just remembered - I installed my first sets of pickups this past week! My buddy got a new set of Seymour Duncan Nazgul and Sentient pickups, and we put them in last week. Very nice! Made me finally order my replacement pickups from GuitarFetish.com. Nothing fancy, but a definite upgrade from stock. For about $50, it was well worth it. Better lows now, and I'll set it up with some flats soon. Gonna be pretty sweet for drop tuning.

Which DG pedal are you thinking? I love my B3K, no "fizz" for me!

Got word this weekend that my 2nd Vulcan has arrived in Portland in working condition, always a good feeling your packing job worked, although its pretty much indestructible. Now to get the Fender Studio and sell it to buy a 3120 or XXX...NEED dat high gain in my life.

Heres a question for you guys, I see a lot more of the 60 watt combos for sale. How do you guys feel a 60 watt combo with high powered speakers probably swamp things would do for high gain distortion for bass, using it for dirty dirty highs only.

Looking at all of them. The Vintage deal is sounding the best right now.
Just watched 3 demos on the B3K. Tons of fizz... but usually when the drive is cranked (which I will not be doing). I'm not too worried about it as the guitars will drown that out anyway.

Bummer on the tubes going out on a show man. The one thing I fear about tube amps.

Probably helps I keep blend low, drive low, and level about 2ish. Also flats. But. man, it's a metal monster. Thick, but just just enough highs to cut the mix. Not doing clacky metal as some people think of that term, but just solid lows. Can't describe it as I'm terrible at putting tone into words, but I love mine.

My proudest prank was to one of my college roommates. His parents sent him a care package and he was saying how much he liked these like...freeze-dried, dehydrated peach chips. So he went out for a while at some point, and I went up to his room, took the peach chips, and proceeded to hide them throughout his room. In the shirt drawer, in socks, in shoes, under some papers, in a video game case, under his pillow, in a glasses case, etc etc. So I figured he'd eventually find them and be all "Alright, which one of you did this?" but I never heard anything about it. About a month goes by and him and one of our other house mates are having dinner in the kitchen, and I guess he mentioned something about "Man, it's really weird, I keep finding these damn chips scattered throughout my room, it's starting to weird me out." To which the other housemate goes "Oh yeah, Dylan hid them all over your room". He promptly freaked out. "MAN, I THOUGHT I WAS LOSING MY DAMN MIND. I've been losing sleep over these damn chips popping up." He thought it was hilarious, but then asked me if I could reveal the rest of them, but it had been so long by that point I'd forgotten, so he kept discovering chips for months. However, the best part was after we graduated and he'd moved home, I get a text saying "I think I've finally found the ultimate one." I'd told him there was one he wouldn't find for years. I'd disassembled his mag-light, took the spring out and put in a chip and figured he'd never find it. Turns out his mom went to use it and checked the batteries since it wouldn't turn on only to find a peach chip, so then he had to explain the whole thing. I was very proud of that prank.
