Dammit world... what's up with this week? Little league / T-ball practices and games every night. Long-promised backpacking trip with the wife this weekend needs to be packed / planned for. Important design project due tomorrow. Dishes. Groceries. Meals. I HAVE AN EP TO RECORD! The drums are done and I've finally got the garage jamspace all set up with this ridiculous 6-amp, 8-mic Frankenrig and I gotta track some fuzz. I MUST IMMORTALIZE THE HEAVY TONES. THIS IS REAL, SERIOUSLY IT GOES ON MY PERMANENT RECORD. Father, husband, engineer? I'm a MUSICIAN. I'm an ARTIST so my feelings are deeper and more important and my needs are specialer than those of others' because I'm an ARTIST. The Universe is obligated to provide for my needs, not the other way around, duh. Right? RIGHT?

Probably has to do with being uncomfortable with your singing voice. Singing is one of those things where it's really easy to hear uncertainty.
As for being too low... Peter Steele's voice was low, too.
VTA update: It made sound! then promply blew a preamp tube, it was one if the OG ones, not surprising it blew. It being a 6AN8A he had to order them, also proves what I thought was true, this amp is very much like a 200 watt OG SVT. HOLY GRAIL AMP STATUS....RIGHTEOUS!!!
Yeah, I love smoking and I love playing and I love playing after smoking but I can't do it before a practice or a show. I get too into the Riff and miss changes, all the changes it feels like. So if I'm going to be remotely productive at practice I need to save the smoking for after.
I can smoke all I want and play/perform fine. It's the booze that gets me. I like to have a drink or two before I go on stage, but there is a very very fine line for me between just right and too much regarding my playing. A few gulps of brew past that line and for whatever reason the bass feels like a foreign object in my hands.
Some of my best playing, technically and creatively, happens in the first 10-15 minutes after a big ole dab. The riffs just happen. What doesn't always happen is me remembering to record them.

Stick one of the Artec clones into the bass of your choice?
I had it wired up originally with a single output, but the other pickups just buried it. So, I cut in another hole, made two outputs, and then I run it into an LS2 and I can just stomp it on for extra muddy thunder at my leisure. I actually enjoy it enough that I think I'd like to do it to a MIM Fender P instead of the SX cheapie I've been using (although I've got another one of those Fender cabronita pups coming to replace remaining Jazz, first).

The artec gets buried by the other pickups really? Mine are rated at like 30k and were crazy overpowered.
I'm convinced mine's not quite right, and the ebay seller was non-communicative (combined with the fact that it took me nearly two months to get around to chiselling a hole for it), but it read somewhere around 29.6k or something when I metered it. It's got hum, though, which sort of defies the "humbucker" nomenclature, which is why I think it's not right. I read I'm supposed to reverse a coil on it, but I'll be damned if I know how to do that.
If I ran the Artec on full, the Jazz would overpower it as I moved up past the first third of it's volume knob.
With the two outs, it come through better. The middle goes through a Muff, the Artec is clean, and I don't really bother with the J pup.

Two possibly related things here:
1. Absolutely horrible week (going on 2) at work. Like, gotta go get blood drawn and checkups for months bad.
2. Should I get a 2nd Pharaoh Supreme? Don't have one on the guitar board, and am looking for a heavy, doomy, OD/Fuzz. I don't want crazy high gain fuzz. Had the Supercollider, great for what it is, but want less fizzle. Maybe a Rat? Anyway, the Supreme has been on both boards, but as the bass one is more important, has its forever home there. Get a 2nd for guitar? (Or alternatively, combine both boards into an all-purpose boutique effects board? I have the same types of pedals for each, and even a few identical pedals.)

Shipped the 105q off to its new home. Looking at morely wahs on eBay. Is there one model that's best for bass? Looks like there's plenty of deals on the vintage ones. Worth paying extra for the fuzz? Are the 80s-90s black ones any good for bass?

What the hell happened at work?
If you mod a rat for asymmetrical clipping it will do thick doom od/fuzz really goddamn well. Great tones both in low gain and gain settings. Pushing a tube Marshall head with one absolutely kills. Its an easy mod and absolutely nails the heavy drone guitar tones.
Thanks for the Rat idea. Now, to debate getting one...
And work. I teach kids with severe behavior disorders. Lots of privacy laws etc. Suffice it to say things have been rough lately.
Hmmm. I have a couple rat boards and 3 days off. What diodes do you suggest? Ge and Si? Or LED and Si? I'm generally pretty satisfied with LEDs, but my bethlam drive has mosfets and they sound purrrrrty goooood.
MOSFETs in my Pharaoh Supreme are also amazing. Best fuzz tone ever. What Rat builds are you thinking? How many are you making?
I have two madbean slow loris pcbs and one rat pcb from aion electronics. I don't recall that projects specific name. Aion has some cool projects including a DS-1 which is super tempting to build a ds1 to ideal specs without having to mod a stock unit.

I have a rat 2, and it sucks. Doesn't run on 9V center negative, and it eats batteries. Kills all my low end and fizzles with high distortion settings
I smoke every rehearsal. And recording session. I still keep track of the changes pretty well, which isn't always that simple in Catapult.
Same. Booze will shag me up way before weed would. I guess because I'm more aware of my impairment with weed. At shows I like to have one beer before playing to loosen up. But no more until after we play.

This will be for my guitar board. Might pick up a Fuzzrocious Rat Tail from the classifieds instead of the Pharaoh Supreme. Cheaper, and something new/different. I've been meaning to get a Rat too, so that could be the starter. Tried a few muffs already, and the Swollen Pickle and Pharaoh Supreme are both keepers. Maybe I'll just tweak the SP more if I get the Rat Tail. We'll see...
For guitar I prefer silicon diodes in a rat. Just add a second one in series to one of the clipping diodes for asymmetrical.
But yeah, pretty much any stock rat isn't going to be great for bass.
