crucify me, but i don't consider Sabbath as doom. i think they had a lot of elements that others took and turned into doom. to me doom started with Pentagram, Witchfinder General, Saint Vitus. all heavily influenced by sabbath obviously but with more intent on making doomy music.

Kind of agree, but not quite. I think they had a lot more variety than straight doom is all, but some songs are as doomy as any. I mean, songs like Paranoid, Changes etc aren't what I would call doom. But Hand of Doom? War Pigs? Definitely doom.

What do you use to power so many pedals? I use a powerplant Junior with only 5 Outputs, I might have to daisychain soon...

A boss LS-2 might solve a lot of your problems.

nope, I fear not. The Signal is split up by the akai unibass and I want to put the two Signal paths back together in the rack after the (rack mounted) ampeg Preamp. the new Setup means two cables from board to rack, already more n I'd like to have :-D

They had all sorts of variety in their music. I personally consider them the first true metal band, with various songs fitting into numerous genres later to develop. Doom being the most represented throughout their catalog.

I don't think I've ever heard them say that. (Not that they haven't!). But I do remember seeing Iommi saying he doesn't know where "heavy metal" came from and he considers them a hard rock band. Much like how Lemmy always said Motörhead was a rock and roll band, but was often considered a metal band. I guess both bands straddle genre lines.

This does remind me of a morbid conversation I had a few weeks ago. We were wondering how many people had to die before the governor of California would become president. Namely, we wondered how Schwarzenegger could have been made President, since he's unable to run for it.
