Just get the 1000, then no worries if you have enough power or headroom. The Dually is a great cab, but I'd go for something local that you can try first. Shipping a cab from the US to Australia would be crazy expensive. See what's in ready supply on the used market, then you can find a good deal. A good sealed 810 would get the job done. Dunno about there, but here there's always a few used Ampegs selling locally for good prices.

True enough, but the market is so tight there, that it might sell really well as people wouldnt want to spend the crazy prices for mainstream gear there.

If it were me in Australia (where everything is way more expensive) I'd look for something from Peavey or Hartke. I'm partial to 15" drivers and it seems like there's always 1x15" cabs for sale cheap (around here at least). A matched pair of those or a matched pair of 4x10s with the TB1000 should be loud enough for most projects unless your band is doing something crazy with multiple rigs.
Just make sure to check power handling, as older 15" drivers are usually rated pretty low.

Terror Bass 1000 is my main amp. Love that thing. A 500 will likely be loud enough. It depends on pricing down there. In the US, the 1000 can be had for around $200 more when buying used. I'd say the extra headroom is worth the $200, but you'd still be fine with the 500.

What kind of cabs do you commonly come across where you live? I have also heard that Orange bass cabs are not that great. I can only think of a few bands I have ever seen using Orange bass cabs, and I'm pretty sure 100% of them were endorsed by Orange. They don't sound BAD, but they do seem pretty overpriced for a mediocre product.

Last time I saw semi-local Easy Rider Records band Brimstone Coven, their bassist (who is really good) was rocking a TB through an SVT810. Seems like a pretty solid pairing.

Australia has to have some one doing custom builds at a reasonable price. I am sure any competent builder can build something similar to a Dually. It is different with the fearfuls because of the crossover, but a Dually is just good speakers in a box that was designed for them.
The guy from Dead Meadow plays through Orange cabs and they always sound amazing. Though I wouldn't pay that much for that cab especially considering their weight (less money and less weight in almost every other 8x10)
From what I have heard, its proportionally as expensive to find craftsmen down there to build. The Dually is good speakers in a box designed around them. But that is the catch. There are tons of builders out there that dont design anything. The whole proof of concept has to be there.

Haha but good advice. I'd recommend peavey black widow loaded cabs if your on a budget. You could blow them with either the TB500 or TB1000 if you aren't careful.
thats corey's 300W board, so much tinned buss wire in that ****er. Probably already used 8 feet of buss wire on 1/2 of the board to make connections

I reached a moment of gear happiness last night.
bass->Mesa Bottle Rocket->MXR M80->Hartke 5500 no eq->8x10.
I set the Bottle Rocket for barely any gain and I got a nice buttery overdrive tone. The MXR is set for a slight mid cut and treble boost with the color button engaged. It's a little thin so as to not be boomy. It inspired some over-the-twelfth-fret-Geezer-style playing.
I just need to replace the Bottle Rocket. It's too cumbersome (AV power supply, and ins/outs are reversed, and it's too big for my PT Nano). Everything I've bought or built has not kicked the Bottle Rocket off the board.

Definitely have to get Orange cabs used and, even then, they're pricey. They sound good, though. Even better, they look good.
