I love Marcolin, bit have always preferred Johan. So it's a win-win. I never thought they sounded that much like SA even with Lowe singing, but I've never been that into Aeternus. So what the heck do I know. . .Not bad at all. My only gripe with post Marcolin Candlemass is they just sound like Solitude Aeturnus, and it's like... if I want to hear SA, I'll listen to them. Pretty cool that they got Johan back though. I heard that guy was not at all into metal when they hired him for Epicus. I still miss Marcolin but I always heard he's got a massive ego. Oh well, I guess it goes with the massive hair!

It's funny, I've wanted one so badly for so long, and I reached out to the guy more than once and.. it never happened. Now I'm flat broke, can't really justify the cost, and sort of wonder if the $200 tag is worth it versus a cheap EHX Green Reissue.
So, what this inevitably means is I'll wait, endlessly, then one day they'll go back out of production and I'll be back to sending emails and hoping to get lucky.

Nothing new happening here,looking for a new project at the moment. other stuff didn't work out sadly. Bay Area craigslist is... uh. interesting to say the least...
Two new additions to the family. The stonedeaf syncopy didnt oscilate in a way that agreed with me so i got the fairfield meet maude. It oscilates just like i wanted and the detune warble modulation it has is really pleasing. Then my temporal rift from dunwich came in. A suboctave generator inside a reverb? More evil than you might think.
Dont judge my playing this was the first couple of minuites just messing with them with whatever came to mind.
My new project. Tbird pups and a radical jazzmaster-esque wiring scheme. Final step to starting a guitar/bass business. Trying to make a small brew affordable (ie squier $) unique sounding/looking offering that at least plays as good as squier/Epiphone offerings.
I see too many smaller US companies doing either absolute budget or Reverend/top end MIM fender level options. Too many people I know are up for spending $300-500 for something, but don't wanna dish out for $1000 unless they're 100% sure they want it. Not saying Reverend or Mexican fenders aren't good, they're great. I just think there's a gap there. I want to try my hand.

Any interest in developing a passive eq circuit for guitar/bass? I got some wild ideas, but know little about circuit design and electronics. I wanna make simple, maybe even 1 pup designs with radical tone shaping.

Sounds very interesting. Love to see and hear it when it comes together. Since I'm local to you, I'd gladly playtest or whatever for ya. Make a 34-35" bolt on with a gibson eb-3 or thunderbird pickup arrangement that doesn't neck dive and I'm all over it. Bonus points if its made out of reclaimed wood.
My band member search continues. More auditions, more semiliterate weirdos. Onward and upward (hopefully!).
My own reclamation project is moving along. The BC Rich Warlock has been stripped, stained, and I'm still adding Tru-Oil (gunstock oil) coats to it. Looks pretty good, not perfect, but its my first go. I'm happy with it. Going to let the finish cure a bit, then its on to get a few bits (pots, input jack) and start putting it back together. Already eyeballing my epi EB-0 as my next victim.
hmm... I got some ideas.
One of the things with passive eq circuits is you can only cut, you can't boost the signal at all... but you could say have a high cut, low cut and switching to do series/parallel for the pups. Active pre-amps tend to work better for tone shaping because you can boost stuff a lot easier and it allows more options. Downside of course is dealing with the battery and getting a clean pre-amp that sounds good takes a fair amount of work.
I don't know squat about tbird pups so i'd have to dig into that a bit, but i think there would be a fair amount of options available for passive tone shaping options with them... You thinking humbuckers or single coils?
So far i'm thinking neck/bridge pickup switches, parallel/series switch, vol and tone to roll off highs and leaving the lows alone. Could be interesting!
What are you doing for necks on those basses? planning on doing any fretless ones? ;P
May have found a project finally. Drummer in my current band has a bass friend that is looking to play again and I wanted a project to play guitar on. Hopefully we’re gonna get together sometime this week. Nice thing is I’m already familiar with the drummer and we have a vibe we both like.
