Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Anyone have a favorite compressor pedal? Im looking at the darkglass hyper luminal or the origin bass 1176 compressor. Any other recomendations?
Depends on what you are looking for in a comp. Ive been through a lot and found the Aguilar TLC to be nice and have quite a bit of coloration to the tone. In a good way. On the other hand, I actually prefer the MXR Bass Compressor because I use it more as a limiter, and because it doesn’t color the tone nearly as much. This lets me use the compressor as more of a utility instead of a tone shaper. I use it as a limiter because I switch between active Warwick $$, Marcus Miller Jazz, and a few passive jazz basses.

Im looking for it more for sustain and just general thickening of the low end since im using a hpf to filter out and run the high end through an overdrive. I want to run the clean low end through a compressor to fatten it up and hopefully improve sustain.

Didn’t realize the preamp thing. Even cooler. Never really heard much about Acoustic amps before, except that the 360 is supposed to be awesome. Anybody big into heavy stuff ever play one?
John Paul Jones played 360s thru most of zeppelin. They tend to be $$$ and not common among the doom scene. However,
the 370 seems a popular amp among doomsters. Never played one tho.

Building a parts jazz bass. Ordered an old black MIM body off ebay and a brazilian ebony neck from warmoth. Currently the high bidder on a 70s set of dimarzios too.

Still making decisions on finishing off the bass. The neck is going to be fooking heavy, so I'm thinking anout a high mass bridge to help balance the weight. Probably a hipshot kickass. Schaller bml tuners likely. Lots of options to peruse! Good thing I know what pickups I like otherwise that is quite the rabbit hole.

Likely heresy to many, but I never got into Zeppelin. Maybe that’s why I haven’t heard much of the 360.
