Nice channel, I dig how people are doing this. Not everyone has an ear and can just learn by playing along. I remember learning a bunch of tool songs way back that way, took some time. I've found with covers I tend to listen and play along, then go find tabs or sheet music to nudge me in the right direction for anything I couldn't figure out.

@oZZma good to hear! Always a good feeling. Got some stuff headed your way.

@drewnold 12s or 15s all day everyday...a set of 212s make it easier to haul to practice if you need that.

Maybe. I think the company hasn't really done itself any favors over the years. They made some decent combos in the 80s, but after that became sort of an "intro" brand like Crate. My perception of them is they aren't releasing quality gear, or any gear for that matter.

True, although some of their stuff may be good it probably is overshadowed by the beginner crap. That max combo I have I think they hit it out of the park tone and feature wise. Except for wattage, it did work for shows in my punk band in HS though.

My cousin has one of the new max heads and although it is similar to my combo, it's missing the voicing switch.

Oh and anyone interested in splitting on this? I'm real interested in the bifet possibly the gunslinger. I think the price breaks down to about $50-$55each. I believe they do free ground shipping in the US.

I'd agree... I have a Max 112 combo that lives at a friends house and that was my only amp for a long time. It has pretty great tone, could keep up with a drummer, did the tilt back thing and had a DI. I just used that and a Pbass for like 4 years and it was killer with the gain cranked and tube emulation on.

In other news, got this thing finished, high gain fuzz, it's a pedal pcb acid rain fuzz, supposed to be an original design, has vol, sustain, bass and treble. Its super nasty!

Also got scabpickers praise and worship pcbs finished up, just started on the case and art for it. Yeehaw.

I haven't yet gigged my biamp [2 amps/2 cabs] rig. Since we are a 3 piece, I dont have to share that much stage space. But since I like to ponder such things. . .

Wondering if any of you have done this before:

I know the ampeg svt 810e cab is splittable so one could run 4x10 from one amp and 4x10 from another. [Putting aside any ohm matching issues that might arise in my rig by doing this] I'm wondering how well this works/sounds vis a vis using 2 separate cabs?

I'm having this bad feeling dragging 2 oversized 4x12s is going to prove a real PITA, but I don't want to give up on my bi amping dream. Besides, I'm just a curious fsker, what can I say?

I did it for a short time. My experience was that, live, is where this idea falls down. In small rooms it sounded fine. Once you got beyond a certain size, the sounds would blend together too much and became a tangled mess, if that makes sense. The solution that I came up with was using two 4x10 cabs (side by side, instead of stacked vertically) with a specially cut wedge that I placed between them to point each cab just away from the other to keep the sounds from munging together. Then it became an issue with having another 2 things to schlep around, set up, etc.

It sounds great in the small practice room. I'm 100% sure its one of those things only I notice or would notice in a live situation.

If I play with 1 amp, I generally play cleaner. I've experimented with a blend pedal and I can get a passable sound while using my superfuzz, I feel like I get a better sound from the 2 amp set up. I was just wondering aloud about the 810e. I also considered getting 2 410s or maybe 2 2x12s if what I have now proves too big a pain to lug around and get 'just right'.

8th time! Shoot I just wanna seem em for a second, but I'd see em every time if I could to be honest. @br1qbat how was it? I know they often play a lot rare pieces when they swing round Michigan.

Oh and you could put the 810 on its side for a similar effect. If you really wanted to get wild with mods, you could build wedges for each speaker on one half or both to angle them apart.

The di was just ok. It was pre-eq so if I had a signal path before it, it was all good... but if I was getting my OD from the gain stage, well, it was kinda lacking.
It was great for a blues or a jazz (as dumbed down as I could get with jazz anyways) jam or anything with a PA, but not great for just rocking out. Ironically thats what motivated me to start looking into pre-amp pedals with a DI on em.
