FWIW my cheapo Epi EB-0 is 30.5" scale and with short scale 5 string flats [they exist!] the tension in C standard is A-ok. I wouldn't drop it below BEAD though.
Yes that's a pretty thing for sure. I've had half an eye on one for a while now.
Added another track. the goal is 1 "song" per week, just sit down and record whatever comes out.

They fired all of DOD. Looks like they’re still making (or at least selling NOS) the more popular reissues. I know Tom Cram (the guy they fired) now runs Spiral FX. At least I think that’s the name.
I have a 30" short scale Jazz tuned to D with 45-107 GHS balanced nickels and the tension is pretty deece.
I go C standard on my basses used for doom but I'm not sure I'd go C on the short scale. Might be kind of floppy. I can try it and report back.

Didn't realize it was the whole crew, damn. Tom runs Spiral with his wife IIRC, just got an email from him the other day about a new pedal.
I think they're still manufacturing them in batches, though I wouldn't doubt the pandemic has messed with the supply schedule. They've sold out numerous models to just have em back up in a couple weeks. Been keeping my eye out, sometimes some real good deals.
Oh and I dig the project name @bassboysam. Reminds me of Fable.

Threw down an offer on the 5 string, and it’s been accepted! Now to look up how to clean chrome hardware. It’s this bridge, if you have any suggestions.
I think I was told to use aluminum foil and rub it, but I would test that out first...

I've been out of the pedals game for a couple years but now I'm thinking about dipping my toes in just for creativity's sake. Looking to some kind of dirt, a chorus, plus one "noisy" device.

My shortlist:
General OD - Modded Pork Loin
SS Grind - GK Rails Pedal (worth finding, building, or having built!)
Clank - B3K
Fuzz - Pharaoh Supreme
I-want-to-cause-Armageddon - HM-2 or clone, Throat Locust is my favorite.
My favorite chorus is the old DOD Deep Freeze, though I hear good things about the Bass Chorus Deluxe too. Seem to have similar features.
Noisy to me means ring mod. No real suggestions, but they’re fun to mess with. I use a Gonkulator, and it’s not a useful sound, but it’s... interesting?
Chorus-wise, IMO you can't beat the Boss Wazacraft chorus. It has a setting that's supposed to emulate the old Boss CE-1 and it's just pure awesome.
Chorus-wise, I was thinking either a regular or "bass" MXR chorus. Boss Waza is another good option, too.
"Noisy" wise, I may get another EQD Rainbow Machine. IIRC, it's good for those "end of song trashcan parts" where everyone's just pretending their in AC/DC.
Dirt-wise, well, we know how that goes. Once you start the perpetual motion machine it just keeps going and going.

Reverb has gotten crazy. Still good deals of you’re patient, but plenty of nonsense.
Case in point - I was just last week sitting in a guitar I was trying to sell locally. Cheaper than other identical models locally by about 25%. Nothing for months, as the other guitars sold. Guy bought it last week for cheaper than I listed (which was expected). He flips it on Reverb within hours for 2.5x the price, and literally $150 more than new. I politely message him giving him a heads up that he won’t sell it there at that price. He says “I know, but it includes shipping.” So, yeah, Reverb is crazy. People trying to get ridiculous prices and it just sits. So I’m watching that listing out of curiosity.
Yeah rainbow would definitely be good for that. Check out their data corruptor too, probably up a similar alley to what you want but you may find some extra uses.
Can't go wrong with a basic chorus. Though if you're interested in more while saving some space check out Keeley's dark side. You can get some chorus sounds out of it, but then there's a ton more.

The only chorus that has ever given me GAS is the DC-2w. Some bassist on Reddit posted a massively detailed thread as to why they liked it and what really helped sell it to them was that you don't really hear the LFOs, and that sold me on it too (though I haven't actually bought one so I guess I'm not really 'sold' on it
). That said, you probably want to run it in stereo to really get that result. What appeals to me about choruses is the spatial effect and duplication, not the wobble or synthetic tone. Which is why I don't run chorus, because I already run two channels and though I tried to run one of them in stereo, it proved to be a pain in the end.For dirt, a few recommendations: GroundFX Burning Sunn is my dirty centrepiece. I have the EHX Bass clone and it works fine for now but I would love a DC-2w, they seem amazing. I can never really hear my chorus doing anything in the band mix. I just want the sound to be thicker and sound duplicated, not as much the warble sea sick sound.
