Also born after the glam heyday. Don't disagree that Def Leppard is quintessential glam, I just don't like glam/ most 80s rock that much in general. I do like some thrash, and prog from that era but 80s rock has just never really done it for me. The simple catchy-ness is exactly what I can't stand. I also just don't find the glam rock aesthetic appealing. As someone who wasn't even born until glam had seen its limelight, been killed, had its tomb desecrated by a necromancer, and was subsequently killed again, I have little very little relation to the genre. I get that it was massive and Kiss were a thing, but my first and last time hearing Def Leppard was on Guitar Hero 6 where they featured Pour Some Sugar On Me. And honestly it sounds like what glam should be to me. It's catchy, the vocal harmonies are really nice, and it doesn't rush itself. It's on my guitar hero favourites playlist and that's about it. So I guess the question is, what's bad about Def Leppard?
Also there was this one time in third grade where we made cookies in class and they made us hold the ingredients up above our heads before using them. I held up the sugar but the bag wasn't closed properly so it poured all over my head. After getting as much as I could off I was greeted by a few kids singing that song. Luckily I had a good sense of humor and found it funny too but I was still extremely embarrassed...
80's pop on the other hand, is one of my favorite genres which I guess entails a little bit of soft rock
