You think that's bad, wait til your knees start reminding you that no matter how many times you laugh at farts, you're not 15 anymore.
Not really doom at all, and I think I may have found out about these guys from this thread, but they are fscking amazing. If I haven't found my new guitar and bass heroes (and they may be), I've certainly found my new drum hero.
Pretty sure you're right as I think I discovered them via this thread and agree they shred.
I keep vacillating between my DG vintage Ultra and B7K for some saturation before my amp. One sounds better than the other then I change my mind lol. Also I’ve been running my bass in series and it’s given a nice extra oomph and wooliness to my sound. I’ve never been able to make fuzz work for me, my bass lines turn to a mushy incomprehensible mess

Clean blend helps, hpf helps me as well. I feel ya though. I've been messing with a lot of parallel and dirt stacking lately. Nothing wrong with more dirt.
Yeah I feel this pain. We practice in a like 10x10 concrete room. I ended up finally breaking down and buying IEMs just so I could hear my vocals. We played our first show with them the other day and I actually could sing in tune for the first time ever. It's also let me lay back on my screams since I can hear myself I'm not pushing so hard so the vocal strain has eased up tremendously. It's not cheap, but for us it's been 100% worth it.

No shows scheduled with the metal band yet. we should have some this year but will probably be late summer / fall until we try to schedule any. And yep still in the H!
I'll be playing with my other band that's kind of shoegazy americana at Bohemeo's in April and we might have some other stuff before then. @royscooked on Instagram if you want to follow! Played my first house show with those guys and had a lot of fun. Guitar player writes all the songs and I just make basslines lol.
I'm always down to see shows so hit me up if you want! Just caught a dungeon synth show at Black Magic Social club and that was sick. Will probably catch a few shows there in the upcoming weeks too. Mostly been catching country shows lately as it feels like a budding scene and there's quite a few really good artists around Houston right now.

yeah we're actually using in ears but with all of our stacks and really loud drums in a similarly sized room we're getting a lot of room noise. What kind of vocal mic are y'all using?
Our practice space is also tiny, but decently sound treated. Even then using any speaker elevated off the floor was feedback city. So we run just floor monitors and don't have feedback issues anymore. Might be worth a shot to try.
@ConfoundedBridg I was gonna suggest the same, I've heard good things about using floor monitors to help with feedback at volume.
A couple bands I worked in with small spaces just used really good ear plugs. That way for singing, you really didn't need the volume up wicked high to hear your pitch.
same idea as plugging an ear for a choir vocalist. That seemed to avoid feedback pretty well. Honestly, I'd normally just use cheap heros, then the slightly better tuned ones for gigs so I could hear myself with some clarity.
Honestly, I'm kind of a set and forget type, so I wasn't too worried about making tone or pedal adjustments besides levels/gain during practice or gigs. That stuff I'd do without hearing protection for levels checks and every once in a while during practice or on my own.

They have an extremely impressive sound considering it's just 2 people. Coady is an unbelievable drummer, and I really want to see him with High on Fire.
Currently I'm just using a shure sm58. My drummers using a sennheiser e945 supercardioid mic to try and reject as much of the drums from his vocal mic as possible. I'd honestly like to switch an e945 ir 935 as well in the future. I think his mic sounds alot better than my shure. We always set up at a 45 degree angle facing eachother to try and get the vocal mics off axis with the stage monitors and our backline to reduce how much the vocal mic was picking up from our speakers.
I'm using a set of custom u6t from 64 audio. Pretty much all the room sound I'm getting is just from my vocal mic. I have a set of the 15 dB filters which have helped allow some more room sound into my in ears. As the full 20+ dB filter made me unable to really hear my instruments very well. It was just like a bass wall with barely distinguishable notes.
Heheh, I was aware of Black Midi, and everyone in that band plays amazingly well, too.
Yeah, it was that video being suggested to me by the algorithm a few days ago that made me go on a kick watching their vids. I had meant to mention it here, but got distracted. Thank you for correcting that.
