I hadn't even thought of fees... What's the typical fee these days? I also don't go to many shows, and certainly not ones this large or "popular". I saw Exodus a few months ago, but that venue was much smaller, and I want to say it was about $35 total?

Small venues seem to be 5-10$ for fees last few I recall. Medium to large ones I swear it's like 25% or more of the ticket price for fees. Just wicked stupid.

It can, though it all depends. There's am outdoor amphitheater near me where the grass knoll beyond the covered Pavillion seats are typically $30 even for bigger acts, often ends up being like $35-40 after fees and such. Sometimes that ~$10 fee then taxes are about all you get tacked on at some of the bigger venues, but all depends.

I guess honestly, it's a crap shoot. I just use bands in town and such to check out and have subscribed to local venues I dig. Any time something comes up I just check out the ticket prices quick.

As @Novarocker mentioned it varies. A lot of venues use a 3rd party to sell tickets, then there's resellers, etc.

For example, May 4 Amon Amarth/Cannibal Corpse/Obituary/Frozen Soul are playing at the Sylvee in Madison. Go to the Sylvee website and it shows tickets are $50, $52 day of show. It says sold out, but click to buy, and it sends you to ticketmaster and a ticket is $92ea(for 2 tickets, the ea price changes with qty) + $18 service fee + $3 processing fee + $12 taxes and we wind up at $234 total. Even before it said sold out, it sent to TM.

I can buy 1 ticket for $60 + fees.

These are standing room tickets.

I'm not going. I wanted to, and my wife was up for it, but for that kind of cash, I'm out. When I saw Cannibal Corpse/Dark Funeral/Immolation/Black Anvil in Milwaukee at the Rave(or whatever room it was) it was like $35 and I got a second ticket free. I even sprung for the nice parking at that price.

The Clutch tickets go on sale in about an hour, list is $49 for GA, $79 for the mezzanine and $109 for the reserved mezz. Guess I'll see later today how that actually works out.

Welp, Clutch tickets on sale (Clutch, Rival Sons, Black Stone Cherry) now, $49 for GA, $6 ticket fee, $1.67 credit card fee, plus a few bucks taxes.

So there's fees, but not as hefty and there's no weird price jumps at this time. This is etix . com and looks like it's built into the event center site rather than redirecting you elsewhere, so while I'm sure it's third party it might be more an ecommerce thing?
Either way, less expensive. Will almost certainly go to this one, just need to make sure my wife doesn't want fancier standing/seats.

EDIT:
So yeah, it varies a lot by venue and who's actually doing the ticket selling.

And that makes me a bit cranky.

@scabpicker thanks for the rec on the monster. Wicked fun SF. Definitely a keeper. I was gonna pick up another Ron SF, effing love the graphics, but this one is special for sure.

You get the last star wars bass effect? I really dig it, haven't spent enough time yet though. I was curious if there would be a trim pot inside for whatever trem/vibe/rotary thing is kinda going on in the background.

I don't know how Matt comes up with so many ideas, but I'm so thankful he's doing it.

Hehe, glad you love it as much as I do. Mine's been plugged into my recording setup since I got it. I certainly love it more than my Ron F. Swanson SF, even though that is a nice Super-Fuzz, too.

Got the Idiotbox mystery effect and it's great. It's my second Idiotbox. I'm curious if anyone has tried and has thoughts on the Cool Buzz, the Whataphaser, and the Redrum

Whataphaser is hands down the best phaser I've had. Granted, I've only had a bad stone, boss phaser, the one on the Zoom multistomp, keeley dark side, and the dod 201. Hmm that's a bit more than I thought I've had. It's awesome though, super chewy, can increase volume to reach unity or boost, and I've yet to find a setting that's not really good IMO.

Redrum is solid, I want to try the v2.

Haven't tried the cool buzz, but Matt kills it on dirt.

Love the phaser by Matt. I got the spicy ketchup version. Sounds good before and after any dirt pedal. I got mine set up for a slow speed and rate but I cranked the width.

Yeah I think I'm somewhere in that same spot. If you're ever interested in trading out for an Orange and white mystery box one, let me know. I kinda dig the ketchup one.
