Lots of different factors could cause the flub you're hearing on the low B, could be the bass, string gauge, clipping on going direct, the amp may not be able to accurately produce the low Bs. Depending on the exact fuzz model some of them do suck out some low end or mids, main reason a lot of people use distortions with blended signals. Either or the spread you got gives you an idea of what fuzz characteristics you like and can narrow it down if you decide to commit to something more $$$ later.

fuzzes don't typically play well with effects loops. my suggestion is to save yourself a ton of time and money and just get a damnation bloop pedal or the damnation dirtfixer. if you can't make a fuzz/OD sound like you want with on of those, then you're probably looking for some other effect.
Like a ghost town here in Doomville. Apropos of nothing, I got nothing. Haven't been motivated to play all that much over the last few days. Doesn't help that my mitts are aching.

I am very happy with the new MBD. I bought it as an in-between of OD and fuzz but its actually way heavier than the fuzz while also adding huge saturation and keeping the low end. Exactly what you want for live sound.
Nice when things work out better than you hoped they would.
My tax return this year has transformed itself into a MIJ “midnight” P-bass, en route as we speak from reverb. Funny how tax returns have a way of doing that to themselves…

I'm not familiar with them, though I hear good things? I'm having a similar conundrum in a few weeks regarding Judas Priest. Their new album is fantastic, and I've never seen them live. Never know, but it may be my last chance to see them at this point...

I feel that Black Sabbath one... When I first got into this stuff in high school, they played Ozzfest near me. Still kicking myself that I didn't go. I remember driving by the venue and seeing a sea of black in front of the stage.
I could use some help with brainstorming something. I recently picked up a bass vi, the Harley Benton with what I think are the EB slinkies 20-90. My setup is a bi-amp setup where I toggle the guitar amp on-and-off for heavier parts. Here’s my thoughts:
Any ideas? It’s not just playing with a pick that’s making the difference and I have only been using the E-G strings so far with the full band so it’s not the higher strings either.

- my feel is lacking switching from fingers to pick but that will eventually improve with time and practice (I also recently started guitar lessons to help with my song writing) and I don’t like playing the vi with fingers
- The sound when I’m just through the bass amp is not as good as a standard bass and is not good enough for the overall band sound
- But, the sound I get from the vi through guitar amp and bass amp together is crazy good - to the point my wife/singer noticed and she can’t hear the difference between flats and rounds

^ So you don't like how it sounds as a bass? Couple of free things I would try - adjust the bass amp better for that bass. Or use the neck pickup for bass only parts, then do a quick switch to whatever pickups at the point when you switch on the gtr amp (more coordination needed).
More hardcore would be swapping the pickups or taking out 1 or 2 of them and replace it with some kind of decent bass pickup. It's a $200 guitar so I don't know if that's worth doing or not.
If you're not using any strings above the G, I'd look around for some kind of short scale bass with strings on the light side. Sometimes older/vintage short scales will have cool sounding pickups that might cover your bases. Like a twangy old school bass sound. Also from my personal experience, the shorter scale tends to have a bit more low mid grunt thing going on which is a bit more focused when in a mix. It kind of sits nicely in between kick drum/toms and guitars. I'm kind of just spitballin here.

I took some mics, stands and my hand held four track over to my drummer's house to record his tween daughters' band last weekend. They're a two piece guitar/drum instrumental with Sabbath/Stooges vibes. They fscking rock for a couple of 11 year old girls. Mom's going to record some bass tracks for them soon, but it almost doesn't need it (runs and hides after covering himself with sackcloth and ashes).
