Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

in a strange turn of events today while i was waiting for the sliding door replacement glass, not only did I do 8 more AI monster animations and deliver all of the assets in time for lunch in spite of chrome locking up a few times, I also can apparently slap on the bass now spontaneously (not sure how this came about)
a couple days ago i was asked to be in an art noise band, however they didn't elaborate whether it's noisy due to dissonance or distortion, or a combination thereof

anyway, at least i'll be able to slap in case it gets real funked up

I should go grab my bass - I did a couple of migrations using AI today and managed to slip in a few extra things before EOD. I wonder what new skills Claude unlocked for me…

been having weird blast furnace type weather out here in so cal recently
as a last ditch effort to get better action on my L2000, JB, and ESP I switched from xl170 45-100 to nyxl 45-100
seems to have worked, the new strings are easier to play and the neck on the L2000 flattened out nicely

For anyone in the Twin Cities area today, Sinkfest is the annual doom, sludge, low and slow fest. 8 killer bands for just $20.
Great tone (and tune!) for going speaker-less.
6 hour music video shoot, still got one more shot on a merry go round to shoot then off to the editor, starting part time at the guitar refinisher next week until school lets out, then going full time at the shop

What's up folks! Been busy as hell between work, and getting back into skateboarding after 20 years. Been snooping here and there, but man times flown too fast.
Had a bit of a set back in getting the guys out of our hiatus, but we've at least been jamming a bit here and there so there's that.
That's actually really dope. For whoever it was looking into octave stuff, I've been doing similar to what @br1qbat does. I've found that you can get decent light dirt sounds if you roll of your tone knob, or mess around with non envelope resonant filters (what the passive tone knob does) going into the octave, or after with some mid hump, high roll off pedals. AIAB pedals seem to help with that. Depends on how dark you like things, then using an amp to brighten it back up. It seems to be the transient attack or pick attack noises that really throw off the organ vibes without some typical of EQing. But yeah adding dirt really hides it.
I'll have to find the link, but my old band released an album where I was doing that. Basically covering rhythm guitar and bass duties. The band name was Nova out of Lansing and we have it on bandcamp.
Here it is Nova more of a krautrock, heavy psych band, but 'loose woman' gets pretty sludgy and really showcases the octave up guitar sound with good grit. 'Ghost stories' and 'space invaders' does a solid job showcasing the range of clean and dirty octave too.

Great show. All three bands brought their "A" game. The Agora, a Cleveland Icon, used to be a real dump. I remember going to see Clutch there, and walking on the old ratty carpet was like walking on velcro, every step took effort to pull your foot up form the carpet. Well, somebody dumped a bunch of money into renovating out, and it turned out great. The sound system was right on, the place was packed, and I saw no urban violence anywhere.
