Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I'm thinking a focus on business/corporate communications could be the way to go. I'm certified to be a technical writer. Maybe I could combine that with my business experience and a bit of extra education to move toward something more specialized. At any rate, I'm meeting with an advisor next week so I can ask lots of questions and figure some stuff out.

Thanks again for the advice, fellas.

Big businesses are big data driven. Learn how to either manage databases (i'm not talking about MS Access, but large corporate data warehouses) or how to analyze data or build statistical models. There is a lot of demand for that.

Yep, i do a lot of data analysis and forecasting in my current job, and when i was still in the warehouse i was doing inventory control - $15 million of inventory and zero shrinkage. Our fiscal inventories were consistently some of the best that the auditors had ever seen.

I haven't listened to much ewiz past let us pray. I've already told the story here a couple of times but meeting Jus then watching their lack luster set was enough to put me off the band for good.

That was one of their last tours with the original lineup. Sucked.

Also shared a tense car ride with Liz and T-Roy after a Sour Vein gig, was pretty funny in retrospect, not so fun at the time.

For me it's not that the albums are bad, I just don't like the vocals. Other then the effected ones on dope throne that is.
Yeah. His vocals were definitely better on Dopethrone and stuff. I'm partial to Supercoven myself. I like the new stuff, but the vocals definitely aren't as good.

Yeah, I kinda don't want to meet Jus, as I've heard he's a douche.

Why was the car ride with Liz tense? Is she also douchebaggy like Jus?

Her and T-Roy were together back then, it was after a show, he was wasted and acting like a fool, nothing terrible, just good natured yelling and horsing around. She told him to calm the shag down a couple of times, she was embarrassed. He ignored her and she sat in the back seat fuming away. We got back to the house where we were all staying and she immediately locked herself in a bedroom for the night.

Oh man. That kind of situation is always awkward and poopy. Been around that kind of thing a lot, and I always feel sorry for the person trying to get their partner to chill out.

Houses - I buy mine. I'm on my third and most likely the one I'm going to stay in unless something life changing happens like winning the lottery. I made money on each house I sold. I think the key is, as with anything, being smart and knowing what you are doing. Staying within your means is also important. I saved up my first 20% down payment on a crappy little house in a crappy little neighborhood by saving stripper dollars. Now I have a nice big place with a double lot that is beautiful on the inside. It is pretty old and I'm slowly redoing things like plumbing and electric but I'm anal about that stuff and like to have it a certain way. I pay 413 a month for way more house than I really need.

College - Didn't go. My parents cast me aside when I was 2 and I was raised by my elderly grandmother who was very poor. I went to work at 15 and have been working ever since. It would have been nice to be able to go but it certainly is not going to stop me from having a good life.

Bass - Rat King has returned. No time to try it out though. It's hell week at work and not only do I have to work the next 13 nights straight, I have to set up this giant outside party we are having on Sunday and then break it all down and put it away when it's over. Basically by myself. I should get a nice little cash bonus from my boss though and I get to play in front of people for the first time this year so that is pretty sweet.

Right now I'm feeling very DOOMED. I'll be happy when it is this time next week.

Happy with my house. Pisser it's underwater, but I'm not going anywhere and mortgage is cheaper than renting something equivalent. Not all the fault of the economy.

Bass front I'm liking the D'Addario EXP on the ATK. Added tension is helping the attack. Now I wonder if I can reduce gauge with these strings and still get the attack on the B I need. Will run these till they suck and go from there.

Guitar player and I are standing firm were ready to get this material recorded. Drummer has a lead on someone that will take on the project. Should not take long. Hope by the end of the summer were mastered and ready to rip some CD. Likely not going to be a vinyl offering but well see. I need to get busy on some artwork for CD cover and shirts.
