Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

About to get out of work in a half an hour and I don't have to be back till Sunday, I'm heading straight to the beer store!
that guy in that thread just sounds like he needs reliable, suitable transportation. which im sorry, is a requirement for being in a band and not being the anoying pita guy.
Yeah dude with no ride can kick all the ass in the world but I'm not hauling him around. I'll take option 2.
Ugh, so i thought maybe i would give the daddaario's one last shot.
I put the giged twice set on my ric and they sound terrible.
I even put the 2 year old circle K E string back on and it slays the 3 daddarios.
I think I'm going to have to buy a but load of circle K's.
I like the tension on the daddarios but the tone sucks.
My only draw back is I'm worried the thicker CK strings wont sound as good as the thinner ones.
The "Drop" set i had sounded great but the tension sucked.
I'm a damn whack job!!

I've come back around to power slinkies. Daddarios are not worth the money.
So mahogany is a no go...but look at this walnut I'm going to use!!!

I love daddario medium nickels for standard through D-standard. Anything lower I go elsewhere.

You doing a core wood or no? I am fairly certain a V made from walnut would be pretty heavy. It looks good, though.
Finally listened to the whole new bongripper, it's pretty awesome. Your tone one the second track is pretty rad. Dunwich pre, demon king, RD right? And is that pretty much your always tone?
Nope no core just a massive slab of walnut. Weight be damned, maybe it will help with neck dive. There's actually another one slab I'm using too. This one is prettier though. The V body probably won't be much heavier than the solid arched top double cut LP body the bass has now, it's like 14th lbs.

Yup RD > Demon King > ampeg side of the Dunwich mic'd with the dually.
Also took a DI signal off the dunwich pedal preamp but only used the low end of it
Moog 104M all over the record in various places.
The higher notes have much more prominent grind to them. Low end was just big and thick.
A lot of stuff that sounds like synth on the record, are actually just my bass. Really only synth was used for that filter sweep at the very beginning of endless. And the outro section of descent has some low end moog synth coupled with layers of bass through the delay with heavy modulation.
Eh, I was more annoyed by the dude trying to tell me that the 410HLF is somehow objectively "better" than the 810E.
Unless you like no mids in your sound, it's shaging not. I'm sure it works well for some genres, but anything heavy? No thanks.
Weird, daddarios are basically all I use on my basses. I've used GHS, Dean Markley, and Ernie Ball strings. I always go back to the .100 gauge E string XLs though.
Love the roto flats on the 74 p but that bass is also just awesomely bright and nasty sounding. I used it for the metal bad recording for the bass tracks. It just really suck because any winner will probably not be available over the counter for me.
