Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Thats the thing. No catch. No ego, or difficulty at all. The guitarist and I walked him through one of our old songs that switches time signatures like an ADD kid wrote it (because one did), and he just picked up everything fine.

"Oh you switch from 7/8 to 19/8 to 5/4? No big deal."
I wonder if the Def Leppard drummer would have an easier time with odd signatures like that?...

Went to lunch and missed the Bluebeard drop have to go get it tomorrow morning at the post office... But the white strap I ordered Friday and was to come in august showed up now.

Got my free book/gear shelf, man that guy who posted it took some truck photography shots, it looked 7ft tall but it's pretty squat in person.. Oh well better that nothing and no cost.

Amazon prime worth $99?

I am ordering more and more online, and I don't have cable so alternate movie/tv viewing things are nice to have if it's not the same stuff netflix has or at least offers different stuff.

We did the free trial, but didn't find a whole lot in the prime movie selection. We are pretty picky about movies though. We ended up not paying the money, you can still download the Amazon app for playstation/roku/whatever and rent movies or pay per episode of TV shows. We use that quite a bit, but I don't think we've spent anything close to $99 over the last 12 months.

Get the amazon app, get CinemaNow, Hulu Plus for your current tv shows and YouTube has shitloads of PBS/BBC, documentaries, old TV & movies and live performances for free. Covers pretty much all the bases....

We got prime when we had twins- rush diaper delivery and mom discount were vital. Have kept it, the 2 day shipping thing is key. I needed cable ties to re-do my pedalboard, they were cheaper than most retail, and I didn't have to carve out the time to go to HD or what have you.

That being said, we watch Netflix or Hulu more.

Missed the BB? You don't DESERVE it!!!!! ;)

Always forget about YouTube, and I think a friend has a Hulu plus account I'll try and get his login information...

There's another ampeg 8x6 for sale for cheap, again no need but it's so weird. Guy says he got it at an estate sale, I wonder if they guy who sold it last time gave it to a guy who died an this guy got it... It's not very common so crazy if Dallas has that many for sale.

Also there's the Boss SYB-3 for sale nearby idk if it's a worthy buy but I'm tempted.

Edit: misread it's a $55 boss SYB-5 so I'll go snag that thing for sure.

I downloaded the YouTube app for PS3 - use it a lot. Live music, listening to albums, the previously mentioned documentaries and PBS shows. Quality varies, 240 doesn't look so hot on a big screen, but hey - it's free.

Friend gave me HBO go/Cinemax/starz/showtime so I do those on my PC into my tv, wish ps3 had apps for more than just the HBO go they are kinda glitchy on the PC but runs great via ps3

Congrats Max! That should be a fun show to play.

I think Amazon Prime is totally worth it, but I buy a lot of stuff off Amazon. Protein powder, dog and cat food, cat little, dog treats, video game accessories, camping supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, etc etc... If you do a lot of Amazon shopping it is definitely worth it. Don't use the streaming service too much, although right now the wife and I are using it to watch through Parks and Rec. I think the content delivery works better than Netflix. I have had way less instances of a show/movie not buffering up to HD quality with Netflix than I have had with Amazon Prime, although bandwidth throttling by ISPs probably come into play with that which is a completely different topic.

So my wife showed me an article on this website. I really want to believe it's all a joke but there seems to be too much content for farce.

Either way I laughed pretty hard.
Yeah I know, not doom but...
That has to be a joke. It must be. Like the Betty Bowers page. It has to be a parody site.

Please let it be a parody site.

Drummer in my new project is an anomaly.

He has a studio with PA and recording gear, a degree in music performance, reliable car, not just one full kit but four, decent job outside of playing music, no other commitments that eat up his availability, and some how he has no substance abuse problems.
How is he not already in six other bands?

Was taking trash out at the apartment for the second to last time and spotted this electric traffic cone.

Was gone this morning so must be warning traffic now.
"Warning traffic." Could be a nice new euphemism.

Got married on Saturday, I'm Ireland now on honeymoon

That cake is awesome.

So, does anyone know if there's any company that even makes tolex that has the same texture as the stuff Sunn used back in the day?

Ideally, I'd like to have some in dark greenish grey and white, but I haven't even been able to find it in black.

@D.M.N. Do you know?

When I did my cabs, I used Fender/Sunn tolex, there's a few places that sell it, I got mine from ebay. It's pretty damn close, if not spot on. However, I've never seen it in any color other than black.
