Speaking of flats, I think I'll throw a old set of Rotos on the white ric and take these old ass rounds off

Prepping for full rig studio rehearsal. Two new songs to learn... But one won't upload to itunes so I can move it to garage band (stupid apple limitations). Blech... I'll just have to listen and commit it to memory best I can.

Old recipe fenders would be ideal but hard to find. I should also mention I dislike chromes but they are easy to find and decent "middle of the road" flats. My favorites are Rotos but you loose some volume and pretty bright for flats and ghs precision flats which are muddy and awesome.

I've tried Rotosound flats before - my guitarist gave me a couple of sets he didn't want anymore. Unfortunately I didn't have a clue about tone at the time, so I can't remember if I liked them or not (other than that they sounded better than the rounds I'd had on there for five years... )

They are surprisingly bright and have awesome tension both low and standard tuning. Just the Monel isn't very magnetic so it makes your bass a little quieter. Could be good or bad.

The P-bass is working out great. Plugged into the Orange AD200 sim on my iPad, it's really sweet. Thinking of switching to flats though, I don't like the new rounds as much as I like them on my Jazz. Any recommendations? I've done a few searches but there seems to be a lot of conflicting info. I'm aiming towards a War Pigs style tone if that helps!

Not cheap, but pyramid gold flats are it for me. Pure nickel, solid, thick fundamental. I get em from strings and beyond. I got a dud E string once and they sent me a replacement right away no charge.

I never got Rammstein until a buddy of mine talked me into giving it a real listen.
I guess I still don't get them but they are pretty good.
The video with the fat suits is awesome.

Too sterile for me. Especially live, didn't really sound "live".

Fender 9050s. Cheap and made with the same lack of science strings were made with in the 70s.

I like these too, but the pyramids have more fundamental.

I could never do flats. Tried some they just felt gross.

Ewwww quite possibly the strings I hated the most especially on my P. Couldn't get anything but mud out of them.

I've always told myself once I get a ECG neck for the jazz body I got I'm gonna get some gold pyramids, they make a 120-50 gauge set just like I use now but I just the balance tension nickel plated steel wounds.

Nickel Lo Riders are my favorite nickel strings.

Every so often I'll try a set of flats, but i always end up going back to rounds. I can make rounds sound more like flats, but i can't make flats sound anything like rounds.

I'm usually in the middle with GHS Pressurewounds. Best of all worlds.
I usually have one bass with flats and one with pressurewounds or whatever set I'm experimenting with. The D'adarrio BT's are awesomely floating my boat at the moment.

Do you save all the old ones? You could build a little suspension bridge.

I prefer to think he buys every pack of strings in a 20 mile radius. And no one else can play bass in town.
