Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

So: I have a mesa diesel 215. Want to take the EV15L's and build two lightweight tl606 cabs for it. Worth the effort or no?
Disclaimer: I don't play stoner or doom (but I can dig me some), mostly mathrock, but you guys seem to be the most open to discussion on 15" speakers and good music.

IMO, no. Unless you get that wood that costs a fortune and is really light. I think it's more work then worth. Maybe easier to put 2 slightly smaller cabs into a small car. I would rather just take 1 trip with 1 heavy 215 then two trips with 2 heavy 1x15's.
Not worth it. If you are building TL606's around EVM's you should use the Proline B's. The L's are voiced for guitar, and wimp out compared to the B's.
And you should covert to 1/2", build out of void free baltic birch, and add bracing. (which is negated by using heavy drivers designed 30 years ago)
I agree with ampegfuzz. Building your own cabs isn't very cost effective, due to the economy of scale. Plus, the Mesa Diesel cabs are pretty much already EV designs, so you would just be paying extra money to break your current cab into two. If the 215 is too much for what you need, maybe just consider selling it and buying two used Mesa 1x15 road ready cabs?
I can't think of any gig I've ever played that I could have gotten away with using only a 1x15 cab. Then again, I've never worried about being too loud, I don't care if anyone likes the music I'm playing and I've rarely been paid to play. So take my opinions for what they're worth.

Unless you have some money to burn and have to do it yourself, I wouldn't.
If you need some cheap cabs that are a little lighter, I like the BR Carvins but they aren't as deep as the Mesa. If the Carvins are the punch, the Mesa is the kick in the balls.
Didn't entwistle have a bass with that headstock?
Obviously that's not it, but interesting.
Oh my, gimme that bass! I used to own one Musician, which was really beaten, with lots of dead spots... but it was a beast. Next time I had like-new Musician which sounded pretty boring, but still, I want another one... and that natural finish!
I was told to turn down last night
it was hilarious. I push a lot with the demon so that adds some "headroom". Also I found out the el grande has a internal trim pot and different freq's for the deep switch. I thought the deep was too muddy I just fiddled with the trim and backed it off a hair. Now I leave the deep I gaged and crank the tone knob. It's wooly, slightly articulate and feeds back nicely. I'll keep it till I find something cheaper but for now it's my feedbacker and tubby tone box

There never was a composition that deserved the fidelity of vinyl more than this.
