Have fun. Caught the Pittsburgh date for that show. Both Windhand and ATW were fantastic.Dammit missed page 666...
Opening for Windhand, ATW, and Jex Thoth tonight! Riffs will be played, the devil will be worshiped. Much beer will be drank and green will be toked.
Hell yeah man, I'm going to be there! Stoked!

Jane doe is still one of my faves. Axe to fall is so damn sick too. I went botch to converge because I loved botch and people kept tellin me converge. I heard a song from like 2000 and was kinda meh. Then got Jane Doe and forced myself to listen all the way through. Glad I did.Listening to some Converge right now. I've heard an album or 2 of theirs in the past.
Jeez I forgot how busy they are. haha.
F*cking fretboard acrobatics
I am just really torn about cabinets. What I currently have at my disposal are 2 x Acoustic 115s and one Avatar 115. Maybe I should grab another 15, run 2 15s on each side of the amp and save some money, or maybe I should grab this 810 and run it bridged, or on one side with the 215s on the other. Maybe I should do both and run the 810 on one side and 415s (2 ohm load) on the other side and biamp or dual mono?
Stay dark. Stay sinful.
That's where I'm at right now. I still rather listen to Botch.Jane doe is still one of my faves. Axe to fall is so damn sick too. I want to see this guy finished. That's one sexy brown amp head![]()
FN Sexy!!!
Sweer Come say hi! Both of my bands are playing in Madison next weekend as well!
DAT GRAIN....we gonna need some details man, details
Thanks Guys! Yeah, I'm pretty stoked with how it's turning out so far. Max, will definitely say hi if I get a chance. Where are your shows in Madison?
Details:
First off, this is a guitar amp. Sorry guys. Next up with be a big old ~300watt all tube bass amp though using Mercury Magnetics SVT iron.
~20Watts, 2xel84
Very High gain, inspired by the Orange Dark Terror, with with many changes:
tweaked "James" EQ with added Mid Sweep knob.
Two channels, "Purgatory" and "Hell". You either get medium gain or high gain. It can cop a clean if you try hard though.
All Dale CMF60 series resistors (Military Spec) and either Mallory 150 (polyester) or Sprague Orange Drop (Polypropylene) caps. JJ filter caps.
Currently rocking JJ el84's, 2x NOS Tungsram 12ax7's, 1x NOS RFT 12ax7, and one longplate RCA 12ax7.
Transformers are an extremely robust Hammond PT (3" stack of iron for 20W!), and a vintage style ClassicTone OT (laquered, paper wound, grain oriented) model numbers fail me atm.
Front panel is Black Walnut Burl, bookmatched. Wenge accent trim on the sides.
Shell is solid Black Walnut with locking joints, stained Ebony, and finished with a few light coats of Wipe-On Poly.
Controls are: Gain, High, Mid Sweep (pull for EQ bypass), Low, Master Volume, Feedback, resonance, and presence (some on back panel).
The medium gain channel in essence bypasses the first two gain stages. Gives great power amp distortion, and is really heavy sounding
High gain channel if much more modern. Tight, chuggy, focused, blistering.
Takes my Baritone and Klon like a champ!
My guitarist has one of those Peavey Classic combos from the 80s. Put some dirt in front of it, f-ing sludge machine. That thing gets loud too!Julien got me thinking about those Musicman amps with SS preamp and tube power amp sections. I noticed there are some Peavey 80's Classic and Heritage guitar combos like that. I had no luck searching for any other ones, just curious if you all know any other ones and if you dig them or not.
Axe to fall was an awakening for me. I bought it the day it came out based on Jane Doe. Sure it is a bit different, but still the manic style I love. Converge is a concept band. They write music that you have to listen to front to back. That's how they write their music. It flows so well too. That's where I'm at right now. I still rather listen to Botch.
Listening Axe To Fall right now. Jane Doe next. Definitely listened to that one a few times.
I missed it too.I missed the page of the The Beast, that sucks. Well done gents. I was busy with NPD!

Verdict: the darkest driving is a beast of a pedal. And Shannon's paint job is flawless. It knocked the El Oso off my board.

If you like Botch, do you like other fast stuff too? You ever check out piglife?
I agree with ampegfuzz. Building your own cabs isn't very cost effective, due to the economy of scale. Plus, the Mesa Diesel cabs are pretty much already EV designs, so you would just be paying extra money to break your current cab into two. If the 215 is too much for what you need, maybe just consider selling it and buying two used Mesa 1x15 road ready cabs?
Any of you gents/ladies play a spector? How does it sit in the mix? Seems like most of you play passive basses.
Wish Pat Bruders was in this doc.
